Fans still remember Tatum Riley, Sidney Prescott’s friend, who tragically died in the 1996 horror film Scream. The next movie in the series is honoring her character with a touching tribute.
The first trailer for Scream 7 revealed that Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) still fondly remembers her friend, and even named her oldest daughter after her. Rose McGowan, who played the friend, shared that learning this news made her incredibly happy, telling Scream Obsessed it warmed her heart.
“And I know it’s made many others happy,” she added. “It feels right and good. Tatum lives.”
McGowan said she was attracted to the movie – and the chance to play Tatum – for pretty much every reason imaginable.
I was immediately drawn to the script—it was brilliantly written, unlike anything I’d read before, and still stands out to me. The moment I got to the part where Tatum pleads, ‘Please don’t kill me, Mr. Ghostface… I wanna be in the sequel,’ I knew I had to play her. It felt right, and I was excited to bring that character to life.
