Approximately two months ago, Obsidian Entertainment expressed their primary objective for The Outer Worlds 2 as creating a significantly immersive experience for players when it comes to decision-making. In essence, they aimed to rejuvenate the Role-Playing element within the RPG genre.
After examining the recent previews for the upcoming October sci-fi game, it appears the development team has succeeded in creating a story where your choices, whether during character creation or gameplay, significantly influence the course of the journey. It should be noted that these previews are based on the opening scenes of the game, but there’s already substantial proof to back up this claim.
Most previews suggest that the upcoming sequel promises a significantly larger and improved continuation from the initial game. The dialogue, in particular, provides a richer experience as it offers greater complexity, allowing you to explore a wider range of choices based on your character’s specialized areas.
In The Outer Worlds, discussions often revolve around enhanced gameplay experiences as well. This includes refined combat mechanics that provide a more rewarding sensation when playing. However, this doesn’t imply the action in the game was poor; rather, it sometimes failed to create a profound and lasting impact.
Additionally, there are scattered accolades for features such as switching between first and third-person perspectives, and the game’s apparent knack for humor. It seems that this edition offers ample chances for comedic interchanges.
As a passionate admirer, I had the opportunity to catch a sneak peek at The Outer Worlds 2, and while my personal take isn’t as enthusiastic as some other reviews you might come across, I’m genuinely excited about its potential. This could very well be one of Obsidian’s most outstanding releases in years!

This upcoming sequel to an originally excellent game boasts a larger budget, offering significantly enhanced gameplay, stunning visuals, and deeply integrated role-playing game (RPG) elements at its core. Such features promise another potential masterpiece in the realm of RPGs from the talented minds at Obsidian.

Obsidian demonstrates their prowess in creating exceptional Role-Playing Games. If they maintain and build upon the promise shown in this introduction, it could very well be the standout game of the year when released in October. I am eagerly anticipating its launch.
PC Gamer
I’m much more thrilled about The Outer Worlds 2 after getting a taste of it. Although the demo from Obsidian merely showcased the sci-fi RPG’s prologue section (similar to the Nautiloid in Baldur’s Gate 3, but larger), the 45 minutes or so of gameplay left a strong impression on me. In fact, it was so engaging that I found myself playing through it three times with different character builds.
GamesRadar
After experiencing the initial hour of The Outer Worlds 2, I am now a convert. This game delivers on my long-desired focus on detailed dialogues and immersive RPG mechanics. Plus, its impressive shooting mechanics, which have been remarkably quiet yet outstanding this year, is an added bonus.

In this case, Obsidian delivers an exceptional character creator within the genre, offering numerous customization possibilities for your creative exploration. Feel free to experiment and even learn from your errors. Whether you prefer a conservative approach or are willing to take chances, The Outer Worlds 2 caters to all playstyles.

The introduction ends before I could delve into key aspects such as the character leveling system and AI-controlled teammates, leaving an incomplete impression of the entire game. However, it did spark my interest for what appears to be another humorous spin on the space exploration genre.
