Rumored James Bond Actor Takes Himself Out of the Running

Taron Egerton has been mentioned as a possible James Bond, but he recently indicated he doesn’t expect to get the role.

What did Taron Egerton say about James Bond rumors?

I was reading an interview with Taron Egerton in Rolling Stone AU/NZ, and he was really direct when they asked him about the possibility of becoming the next James Bond. He didn’t beat around the bush at all – he gave a pretty honest answer!

“I don’t think I’m right for James Bond,” he said. “I’ve never felt that that was me.

Egerton believes there are many strong contenders for the role, and acknowledges the importance of the cinematic world it represents. However, he feels his own career goals are more grounded and less focused on large-scale, iconic projects.

Egerton has previously stated that he does not believe he would be a good fit to play Bond.

Egerton admitted he doesn’t believe he’d be right for the role of James Bond. He feels he’s not polished enough and that many talented, younger actors would be a better fit. He thinks the opportunity would be better suited to someone else.

The casting of the next James Bond is now happening, and Callum Turner and Jacob Elordi are currently considered frontrunners for the role.

Denis Villeneuve, the director of films like Dune, is set to direct the next James Bond movie, currently called Bond 26. Steven Knight, known for Peaky Blinders, is writing the screenplay, and Amy Pascal and David Heyman will produce the film.

Amazon MGM Studios is now in charge of the creative direction of the James Bond films. Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli from Eon Productions will hand over this control to Amazon in February 2025.

There’s currently no confirmed start date for the next James Bond film, often referred to as ‘Bond 26.’ While production is tentatively planned for late 2026 or early 2027, a release in 2028 is the most likely scenario if those plans hold true.
