Rumored New MCU Black Panther Actor Breaks Silence on Role

Okay, so everyone’s been buzzing about who might step into the role of Black Panther next, and it’s been fun watching the speculation. I recently saw an interview with one actor who was asked directly about it, and let’s just say they weren’t giving much away – a real tease, honestly! It definitely added fuel to the fire, though.

What did the potential new Black Panther say about role?

Damson Idris recently discussed the rumors linking him to the role of Black Panther in an interview with Time. When asked if he’d consider taking the part if offered, Idris simply smiled without giving a direct answer, seemingly avoiding any potential complications.

Idris chuckled and denied any knowledge of the matter, but suggested they could discuss it at a later time.

There’s been a lot of speculation about who will take over the role of Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Jeff Sneider from The InSneider reported earlier this year that Marvel Studios has reportedly already been considering certain actors to play T’Challa, following the passing of Chadwick Boseman.

According to Sneider, while many fans want Damson Idris for the part, he thinks David Jonsson – known for his roles in Alien: Romulus and the upcoming The Longest Walk – is more likely to get it. Since then, there haven’t been any new reports, and fans still hope Idris could be considered if the role is opened up again.

Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri/Black Panther, will appear in the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release in December 2026. Winston Duke will return as M’Baku, and Tenoch Huerta Mejía will reprise his role as Namor, who served as the villain in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Production on the film is currently underway.
