Rumour: Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Skips PS5 Exclusivity, Will Be Multi-Platform Straight Away

So, I just heard some interesting news about the last part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy! Apparently, it won’t be exclusive to PlayStation when it finally drops. That means everyone – PC and maybe even Xbox players – will get a chance to play it, which is awesome!

Square Enix is planning to release Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S. This change comes after the company decided to make all its future games available on multiple platforms, moving away from previously making titles exclusive to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

According to a trusted source, the last installment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be available on all platforms simultaneously, with no exclusive launch for any one system. Square Enix reportedly plans to release it ‘everywhere’ at once.

According to an insider speaking on a podcast previewing Nintendo’s upcoming Direct presentation, Square Enix intends to reveal the third game in the series at Summer Game Fest in June. They also stated the game won’t be a PlayStation exclusive and will be released on all platforms simultaneously.

In 2024, the Japanese publisher announced it would focus on releasing games on many different platforms. This is part of their plan to attract as many new players as possible when a game launches, and to keep those players engaged long after the game is released.

Square Enix used to make deals that limited where and when people could buy its games, like with Final Fantasy 16. Now, the company is changing its strategy and releasing games on as many platforms as possible at the same time.

If a recent prediction about the Summer Game Fest is accurate, we’ll likely find out the game’s official title there. Square Enix has decided on a name, but hasn’t announced it yet.
