We reckon Halo Studios’ strategy for the future of Master Chief is beginning to emerge.
Halo: Combat Evolved will be released on PlayStation 5 next year, and the developers have indicated that future Halo games will also be available on PlayStation.
So, what’s next, after its Halo: Combat Evolved remake?
According to Halo Leaks, a fan account known for correctly predicting the development of Halo: Combat Evolved, remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3 are also currently being planned.
It says these will be “full remakes”, with revised gameplay like sprint.
According to a post on X (formerly Twitter), there’s no current timeline for when announcements about these remakes might be made. The same source who previously shared information about the first remake and its gameplay also indicated that remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3 are in development.
Halo Leaks also mentioned that a seventh Halo game is currently in the works, and it will feature competitive multiplayer.
It appears the plan is to release updated versions of the original three games on the PS5, along with a completely new game that includes player-versus-player combat.
According to one source, Halo Studios aims for everyone to play the multiplayer mode of Halo 7 together, and they don’t want to divide the player base with different multiplayer versions.
We think this plan makes a lot of sense. However, it would also be logical to release the multiplayer portion as a separate, free-to-play game that’s constantly updated, since making it widely available could be really beneficial.
These are long-term plans, likely spanning ten years or more, so the specifics are subject to change – and may not even be completely correct right now.
This looks like a good plan for Halo Studios to help improve the series and get it moving in the right direction.
