Rumour: MindsEye Dev Splits From Hitman Publisher, Seeks to Fix 2025’s Biggest Flop

We really didn’t expect to still be talking about MindsEye in 2026, but the story of last year’s biggest disappointment just keeps going.

Build a Rocket Boy, the team creating MindsEye, is expected to announce they are splitting from IO Interactive, the studio known for the recent Hitman games and the current publisher of MindsEye, according to a report from Insider Gaming.

This change is reportedly part of an effort to reorganize Build a Rocket Boy and secure its long-term direction.

So, I was really excited about the potential Hitman stuff coming to MindsEye, but it looks like that’s not happening anymore. Apparently, the team at Build a Rocket Boy is now focusing on fixing bugs and adding new content to the game instead. It’s a bit disappointing, but hopefully, the updates will be great!

Even after significant layoffs, the studio had announced its commitment to MindsEye and enhancing the game. A major part of their plan was to allow players to create and share their own content on PC, but according to Steam data, the game now has virtually no players.

It’s surprising that Build a Rocket Boy still seems to be hoping for a turnaround, but we don’t know what they’re working on privately.

Now that some time has passed since its release, what do you think of MindsEye? Share your opinions and let us know if you still believe it has the potential to become a classic in the comments!
