Rumour: New Guilty Gear Game Gets Cancelled

A new Guilty Gear game has reportedly been cancelled at Arc System Works.

Based on an exclusive report by Insider Gaming, we don’t have extensive details, but it seems the project was incomplete. However, there’s uncertainty about how long the Japanese studio had been developing it.

2021 saw the release of Guilty Gear Strive, which quickly gained significant popularity for the company. To this day, it continues to receive support. Notably, producer Ken Miyauchi has hinted at grand and thrilling aspirations for the game’s future development.

Absolutely, Arc System Works is fully committing themselves to Marvel vs Capcom: Fighting Souls currently. This team-oriented fighting game has been under development for a minimum of two years.

As a gamer, I can’t help but speculate that the developers might have had a change of heart, given their involvement with the Marvel Tokon project alongside PlayStation. It’s quite plausible that the new Guilty Gear was still in its early stages, an idea yet to fully materialize before it was put on hold.

From our current perspective, there’s no need for undue worry regarding this cancellation. It’s evident that Guilty Gear remains in an exceptionally robust condition, continuing to garner sales and players even four years after its debut launch. Moreover, Arc System Works appears content to continue providing support for it.

Indeed, there seems to be an expectation that a fresh installment of Guilty Gear will emerge; however, what might shock us is if its announcement or even the start of full-scale production occurs before Marvel Tokon makes its debut.
