Sony’s PS Portal handheld device has been very popular. Estimates suggest that around 5% of PlayStation 5 owners in the US have bought the device, which lets you stream games remotely.
Well, it could be about to get even better, assuming screenshots from Reddit are accurate.
Screenshots are circulating online of store pages for the upcoming games Deliver At All Costs and The Outer Worlds 2. They indicate that pre-ordering will allow players to stream and instantly play the games upon release, but only on a PS Portal or PS5 and with a PS Plus Premium subscription.
We haven’t personally confirmed this information from the PlayStation Store, but if it’s true, it suggests Sony is continuing to improve its cloud streaming service.
With PS Plus Premium, you can currently stream a range of games directly to your PS5. You can also stream games from the PS Plus Game Catalogue to your PS Portal.
Okay, so it sounds like Sony is planning something really cool! Apparently, they’re working on a way where you can buy and pre-order games from the PlayStation Store and then play them instantly on your PS Portal. The best part? You won’t even need to boot up your PS5 – you can stream the games directly! As a fan, that’s a huge convenience and I’m really excited about the possibility.
Your streaming quality will likely change depending on your setup, but we’ve been impressed with how well Sony’s system performs.
It’s notable how the large Japanese company seems to be steadily improving this area of its operations without making a big announcement.
As a fan, it’s great to see this company understands how important cloud streaming could be in the future. They’re not rushing things, which I appreciate – they’re just quietly making their technology better and better. It feels like they’re getting ready to really take off if cloud streaming ever becomes super popular, and I think that’s a smart move!
