If fresh rumours are to be believed, Sony’s big PS5 Pro update should be right around the corner.
This is the long-awaited update to PSSR, a feature we’ve been discussing for the past two years. It will make the AI-powered technology even better, continuing to improve image quality in some PS5 games without slowing down performance.
A lot of this recent discussion started with a PlayStation fan account on X (formerly Twitter), @Gust_FAN. They often share information about PlayStation deals and sometimes leak details about upcoming updates. Recently, they posted a breakdown of what’s new in the PSSR update.
The game is expected to launch sometime between now and March. If that’s accurate, we should hear an official announcement from Sony soon.
Additionally, the update seems to be adding a feature similar to AMD’s FSR4, which significantly improves image quality on computers.
Beyond general visual and performance improvements, this update will likely boost frame rates, even in games that already run smoothly at 60 frames per second or higher.
Older games – likely PlayStation 4 titles played on the new console – might be enhanced with improved resolution.
It all sounds really promising, but we’ll have to wait and see if the rumors are true. We should find out soon enough whether the update will actually be released in the next month.
I’m so hyped for the PS5 Pro! I’m really curious about this PSSR technology – does it seem promising to anyone else? Seriously, the idea of getting a smooth 120fps in games is amazing. Let me know what you all think in the comments!
