I’m so excited! SEGA just announced that Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is coming out! It’s a complete remake of the third Yakuza game, which first came out way back on the PS3 in 2009. We’ll be able to play it on PS5 and PS4 starting February 12th!
The game takes place in both the well-known district of Kamurocho and the island of Okinawa. Here, players find Kazuma Kiryu, the main character, relaxing and caring for the children at his Sunshine Orphanage – called Morning Glory Orphanage in the original Japanese version.
It doesn’t take long for the power struggles within the Tojo Clan and complex political schemes to disrupt Kiryu’s peaceful existence, pulling him back into the dangerous criminal world he’d tried to escape.

This updated version features added scenes that expand on the story, offering more emotional depth and immersive side content. You’ll feel more connected to the world than ever before.
In addition, it’ll include a new campaign named Dark Ties. Here’s how the publisher describes it:
Discover a brand-new story featuring Yoshitaka Mine, a character from Yakuza 3, in a standalone game. Once a successful entrepreneur, he willingly joined the yakuza after losing everything he had. Now, with nothing left, he’s searching for meaningful connections in a powerful and emotional journey filled with exciting boxing battles and plenty of interesting side activities.
The standard version of the game will be priced at £54.99 or $59.99. A Digital Deluxe Edition will also be available for £69.99/$74.99 and will include:
- Legendary Outfit Pack
- Legendary Lads & Gals Pack
- Ryukyu Gal Gang Customization Pack
- Flip Phone Customization Pack
- Legendary Background Music CD Set
