Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider Joins Avengers: Doomsday in Fiery MCU Fan Art

Artist The Arman Official has posted fan art on Instagram, envisioning Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Avengers: Doomsday. The artwork portrays a character poster featuring Gosling’s character, Johnny Blaze, getting ready for a confrontation against Doctor Doom. The image emphasizes the dual personality of the character by showing Johnny’s skeletal aspect emerging from the flames. In the post description, The Arman Official shares their reasons for creating this artwork and expresses hope that one day Gosling might play Ghost Rider in the MCU for real.

The Arman Official envisioned Ghost Rider making a shocking appearance in Avengers: Doomsday. If given the chance to cast him, his ideal choice for the role in the upcoming MCU phase would be Ryan Gosling. He believes Ghost Rider merits either a solo film or a Marvel One-Shot.”

Although Gosling hasn’t been cast in any Marvel Cinematic Universe productions, there have been numerous whispers about his potential roles. Notably, Gosling himself has expressed an interest in portraying Ghost Rider, a choice that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige would endorse. However, as of now, no progress has been made on this front. The most we’ve seen so far are fan-made illustrations like the one depicted above.

In 10 episodes of the TV show “Agents of SHIELD”, the character Ghost Rider, portrayed by Gabriel Luna (specifically Robbie Reyes’ version), made an appearance. This version was resurrected on the series by Johnny Blaze (played by Tom McComas), who transferred the Spirit of Vengeance to him. Since then, Ghost Rider hasn’t been part of a film, with the last films featuring Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze having been released in 2007 and 2011.

Throughout his professional journey, Ryan Gosling has generally avoided involvement in franchise films and instead has built a reputation by partnering with renowned directors. Films like “Barbie” and “Blade Runner 2049” were more director-centric projects, as he worked alongside artists such as Greta Gerwig and Denis Villeneuve. However, he’s not completely opposed to contributing to big Hollywood franchises, as demonstrated by his lead role in Shawn Levy’s “Star Wars: Starfighter”. With his expressed interest in portraying Ghost Rider, it’s possible that he may one day become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But for now, he will be busy with “Starfighter”, as production on this film is set to start this fall, ahead of its planned release in May 2027.

The movie titled “Avengers: Doomsday” is currently being made, and Marvel Studios has confirmed that 27 actors will star in the film. The cast is quite extensive, and it’s set to grow further. As more announcements are planned for later, Feige hinted at additional casting news regarding “Doomsday.” It remains intriguing whether Gosling will be among the upcoming group of actors revealed. Although he’s involved in a Star Wars project, there may be hesitation from the actor to commit to a multi-picture deal with Marvel Studios. “Starfighter,” being billed as a standalone production, might appeal more to an in-demand talent like Gosling. However, it doesn’t rule out the possibility of him one day bringing Ghost Rider to life; for now, fan art and speculation will keep the excitement alive among fans.
