As a critic, I’ve followed Bret Easton Ellis for years. He’s the mind behind some truly iconic – and often controversial – novels. You probably know him as the author of books like American Psycho, Less Than Zero, and The Rules of Attraction – works that really captured a certain dark side of American culture and made him a bestseller.
He often examines how consumerism and difficult childhoods affect wealthy teenagers, and uses this to offer insights into modern society.
Murphy has previously worked on popular TV shows like Glee, American Horror Story, Pose, and the Netflix series Monster.
The Shards is coming to Disney+ on 6 August 2026. Sign-up to Disney+ from £5.99 a month.
As a total movie buff, I just have to tell you about The Shards – definitely add it to your watchlist on the TopMob: What to Watch app! Seriously, download that app now; it gives you awesome daily TV and movie recommendations, plus all sorts of cool features. You won’t regret it!
