Ryan Seacrest isn’t going anywhere.
For the coming ninth season of ABC’s “American Idol” (the 24th season in total), originally hosted for a long time, it has been confirmed that the same host will resume their role as emcee. This announcement was made on September 9 by the network itself.
Two weeks ago, ABC unveiled that Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie will reprise their roles as judges for the upcoming season, continuing their quest to discover America’s rising music sensation – a role I’m thrilled to share Seacrest will once again be joining us in.
In the previous season, Underwood (the winner from season 4 in 2005) first joined as a judge, whereas Richie and Bryan have consistently served as judges since 2018.
During the last year, Ryan Seacrest has been juggling multiple roles as both host of Idol and Wheel of Fortune. On top of that, he’s faced personal challenges after a family health crisis. This summer, he opened up about his father Gary Seacrest’s battle with prostate cancer, and shared that at age 81, his father contracted pneumonia while receiving chemotherapy treatment.
Speaking about a phone call from his sister Meredith Seacrest Leach last year while he was at work on the Idol set, he mentioned during his radio show in July that she had said, “Your father is critically ill in the intensive care unit. How quickly can you reach us?
He continued, “During the show, I barely recall what I was talking about. Immediately after saying ‘goodnight,’ I hurried to the airport and boarded a plane for Atlanta.
For several weeks, Seacrest remained at his father’s bedside in the hospital until, thankfully, his condition started to improve, resulting in his eventual discharge.
We need to revisit another round of treatment to battle his cancer, and it’s challenging. The treatments can be really unpleasant and demanding, but I’m confident that he will persevere.
The popular TV show, American Idol, makes its comeback in the year 2026. While you wait, stay tuned for news about what’s happened to past champions since then.
Since appearing on the first season of ‘American Idol’ in 2002, the mother of River and Remy has made significant progress. Originating from New York, she has accumulated three Grammy Awards, achieved three No.1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, served as a judge on NBC’s ‘The Voice’, and currently hosts her successful daytime talk show, ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’.
In September 2008, the second runner-up from a certain show made a significant announcement: the birth of his son Parker, conceived with music producer Jaymes Foster, motivated him to reveal his sexual orientation publicly. He appeared on Good Morning America, stating that he could not teach his child to lie or hide things, nor raise him in an environment where it’s not acceptable to be truthful about oneself.
Later, this well-known redhead transitioned from music to politics, even running for Congress in 2016. Despite losing the election, he documented his journey in a film. However, he hasn’t completely abandoned his music career; in 2023 and 2024, he toured across the country with Ruben Studdard, the winner of season two.
Following his victory on season two of American Idol, Ruben garnered a Grammy nomination and produced several popular albums. In 2013, the musician gained popularity as a competitor on The Biggest Loser, becoming a favorite among fans. Despite being eliminated twice, he learned important lessons from the show. He has maintained a strong bond with Clay, and found his lifelong partner in wife Kristin, who gave birth to their second child in 2024.
The truth is, the season three champion expressed gratitude for every step of her journey during an interview with TopMob News in December 2023. She shared that life is about going through challenges, falling down, and getting back up. Despite experiencing some tough times, she said, “After losing everything twice and having to fight my way back here, it feels really good.”
Notable achievements in her life include welcoming daughter Keziah with husband Kendall Taylor in 2021 and receiving a Golden Globe nomination for the remake of The Color Purple. Hailing from North Carolina, she is also the proud mother of an adult daughter named Zion. She stated, “I want to appreciate this moment and understand that I have worked hard to reach it.
As a devoted fan, let me share some achievements that, despite not winning Season Three, this remarkable musician has undeniably excelled in. First, she clinched an Oscar for her role in Dreamgirls in 2006. Then, she added a Grammy to her collection for her outstanding performance in the musical adaptation of The Color Purple in 2017. You might also recognize her as one of the esteemed judges on The Voice. Her current project is just as fascinating – a talk show under her own name, a fitting platform to share her stories and wisdom, especially as a devoted mother to son David.
Starting on American Idol’s stage, Carrie firmly established herself as a significant figure in pop culture. Indeed, she not only claimed victory in season four but also maintains the title of country music’s queen.
Later, for over a decade, she co-hosted the Country Music Association Awards with musician Brad Paisley. In addition to managing her singing career and hosting commitments, Carrie is a mother to her two sons, sharing this role with retired NHL center Mike Fisher.
In the year 2024, it was revealed that Carrie would be coming back to “American Idol.” This time around, she was set to take Katy Perry’s place as one of the judges on the popular show.
In simpler terms, the second place finisher from Season 4 is currently married and has four children, including a son. Despite facing severe health issues back in 2006, the famous southern rock musician has put out numerous successful albums following his appearance on American Idol.
In a striking manner, Constantine – famed for his powerful performance of “Bohemian Rhapsody” during season four – proved an ideal choice for the Broadway production of Rock of Ages, which earned him a Tony nomination. This talented performer, who is father to Malena (born in 2010), later landed a leading role in the 2023 film, Rock & Roll Man.
After my triumphant win during season five, my namesake album skyrocketed to platinum status, and I graced the Broadway stage in the iconic role of Grease. In 2016, I made a bold move from music into television as the host of a captivating show called State-Plate, where the focus was on the farm-to-table movement. Yet, my heart has always belonged to the world of music, and I continue to share that love by touring and performing live shows.
Before the Justin Bieber craze, there was McPhee fever that paved the way for Katharine’s acting and singing roles, such as in the Broadway-style show Smash and the series Scorpion. Since 2019, she has been married to David Foster and is now a mother to their musically gifted son Rennie. In an interview with TopMob News in 2023, Katharine expressed her hope that Rennie would continue the family tradition of being proficient in various musical instruments. “I’d be thrilled if he followed in his father’s footsteps and became versed in multiple musical instruments,” she said. “We aren’t pushing him; we just let him explore at his own pace. However, I hope he develops a strong understanding of many instruments, similar to his dad, and it seems like he’s on the right path.
Following his stint on “American Idol”, the season five finalist who achieved success with the track “Wait for You” traveled to Angola. There, he collaborated with former judge Kara DioGuardi to boost awareness for Malaria No More. Elliott further garnered attention in 2010 by surviving Chile’s earthquake and using social media to share his experiences. As a father, he is proud of his daughter Camilla, who was born to Karen Cruz.
In the fifth season of American Idol, the country music singer placed sixth. Subsequently, she acted in Hallmark’s Christmas in Graceland and received three Daytime Emmy nominations for her TV show Pickler & Ben. Following her husband Kyle Jacobs’ suicide in February 2023, she reminisced about their relationship with People magazine in 2023. According to her, one of the most profound lessons her late husband taught her was that during a crisis, if you’re unsure of what to do, ‘do nothing, just remain still.’ In light of this advice, she decided to follow his words.
2007 saw the season six winner, who was then the youngest female champion, ignite some significant energy. Her “Battlefield” tour spanned across 35 cities in the U.S., and to top it off, she made her Broadway debut in the 2010 production of “In the Heights”. Since then, her career has flourished, culminating in the birth of her first child with Dana Isaiah in May 2018.
Following this, she revisited “Idol” with an emotional comeback and participated in the 31st season of “Dancing With the Stars”.
The winner of season seven, who became famous with his hit song “Time of My Life”, might symbolize his singing triumphs, yet the title could also represent his ventures beyond the stage. In 2010, he traveled to Ethiopia for UN initiatives focused on empowering women in the country. Additionally, he participated in the Race for Hope in Washington D.C., aiming to collect funds for brain cancer research, a cause close to his heart following the demise of his brother Adam in 2009.
Married to Racheal Stump since 2015, this continuous performer launched his new single “TABOS” in 2022 while still touring.
Following his second-place finish behind David during season seven, the singer undertook a two-year religious service for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chile. Upon his return in 2014, he resumed his performing career. He publicly revealed his LGBTQ+ identity in June 2021. In October 2023, he expressed on Instagram that embracing himself has been a rewarding journey and hopes his life inspires others to also accept themselves.
Despite being somewhat overshadowed in media attention by his runner-up, Adam Lambert, the season eight winner has experienced a peaceful rise to success with his self-titled second album. Released in November 2009, it entered the Billboard 200 at number 11 and one of its tracks, “I Need to Know,” made an appearance on an episode of The Vampire Diaries.
Meanwhile, the artist has been expanding his family, welcoming three children with his long-time partner, Katy O’Connell.
If we were giving awards for publicity, the controversial runner-up from the eighth season would certainly be the grand-slam winner. Ever since his stint on the show, he has released numerous albums, led multiple tours, received an abundance of award nominations, followed in the footsteps of Freddie Mercury as the frontman for Queen, and even starred in Fox’s reimagining of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. To add to his accomplishments, he served as a guest judge on Idol and opened the 2019 Oscars with a performance of “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions.
Following the eighth season of American Idol, Gokey wed Leyicet Peralta in 2012, and since then, they’ve expanded their family to include four beautiful children together.
In 2021, I, a three-time Grammy nominee, unveiled my Christian music album titled “Jesus People.” Additionally, I run my own eyewear brand, which I’ve named Danny Gokey Eyewear.
Following his participation in the top 10 finalists’ summer tour in 2010, after winning season nine of Idol, he embarked on his solo music career. Later in 2012, he married model-actress Jonna Walsh, whom he met during the filming of his first music video post-Idol. Today, this celebrity is a renowned singer-songwriter, with his songs featured on popular shows such as The Walking Dead.
In season nine, the rocker with a resemblance to Janis Joplin got married to musician Brian Walker and released her first album titled “Farmer’s Daughter” in December 2010. Unfortunately, she lost her record deal when RCA closed Arista, J Records, and Jive Records. However, she made her acting debut on the second season of ABC’s “Body of Proof”. In May 2013, she parted ways with her husband. Post-divorce, she referred to her upcoming second album, titled “All That For This,” as “the next phase of my life” in an interview with The Boot.
The winner of season 10 was the first American Idol champion since Ruben to debut his first album, “Clear as Day,” at the top of the Billboard 200. He was awarded New Artist of the Year at the 2011 American Country Awards and performed the national anthem before Game 1 of the World Series that year. In June 2018, the singer of “This Is It” and “Five More Minutes” got married to his long-term partner Gabi Dugal. Their son Avery was born in October 2022.
After coming second to Scotty in a popular competition, she secured a record deal and launched her first studio album, “Wildflower,” in October 2011. Following her stint on the same competition, she shared the stage with Scotty at the 2011 CMT Music Awards, made her debut at the Grand Ole Opry, and even performed alongside Martina McBride at the CMA Music Festival.
In 2017, she received her first recognition from the Country Music Association (CMA) when she was nominated for Best New Artist after the success of her album, “Road Less Traveled.” She also ventured into acting with a film under the same name.
The singer known as “Thicc As Thieves” announced her engagement to Cam Arnold during a performance at the Grand Ole Opry in November 2022. They got married in February 2024.
As a seasoned lifestyle expert, I must share the journey of a remarkable talent who may not have taken home the grand prize in Season 10, but certainly left an indelible mark. Although the judges utilized their one-time save five weeks prior, which undeniably impacted his final position (finishing sixth), he was revered as a fan favorite.
Following his time on American Idol, this captivating artist graced the stage on the Idols Live tour and collaborated with another finalist and rumored sweetheart, Haley Reinhart, on a cover of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” Their chemistry was undeniable.
In the years that followed, he signed with Concord Records, Jazz label, marking the beginning of his successful music career. His self-titled debut album dropped in 2012, and it wasn’t until 2018 that he enchanted us again with “I Put A Spell On You.” More recently, in 2019, he graced our ears once more with the release of his album titled “Jazz.”
This resilient artist is a testament to the power of talent and determination. His journey serves as an inspiration for aspiring artists everywhere, demonstrating that success often comes from perseverance rather than immediate acclaim.
As a die-hard fan, let me tell you about my beloved Jimmie – although he was eliminated prior to live voting in season 10, he’s been making waves ever since! He’s delivered two back-to-back No. 1 hits with “Best Shot” and “Make Me Want To,” and in 2021, he even snagged the Country Music Association Award for New Artist of the Year.
Fast forward to April 2023, Jimmie and his wife, Alexis Allen, announced they were expecting their third child, which was exciting news! However, just a few weeks later, Jimmie found himself embroiled in controversy when his former manager accused him of sexual assault and abuse. While he confessed to infidelity and publicly apologized to Alexis for humiliating her with the affair, Jimmie firmly denied the sexual misconduct allegations, stating that their relationship was consensual.
Amidst all this drama, Jimmie and Alexis welcomed their son, Cohen Ace James, in September. In an attempt to mend their union, they shared that they were working on rebuilding their marriage. Quite the rollercoaster ride for my favorite artist!
Following his victory in Season 11, the musician ascended to the peak of music charts with his popular hit song, “Home,” that was also used as a theme for NBC’s coverage of the 2012 Summer Olympics.
In 2015, he exchanged vows with his girlfriend Hannah Blackwell in a private ceremony attended by loved ones. Four years afterward, they welcomed their firstborn child into their family, a son named Patch.
The season 16 winner hinted to TopMob News that the album, titled Whirlwind (released in 2019, a year after her American Idol victory), features a variety of distinctly different sounding songs. She explained that she can’t choose a single musical style to stick with because she adores them all so much and finds it challenging to stay within one genre.
Since finishing as the first runner-up in season 16, the singer has been dedicating time to producing new music and seizing the professional and personal advantages that came with being on ABC’s series.
According to TopMob News, Caleb Lee expressed his enthusiasm for music and his dream of becoming an artist, stating: “I have always had a passion for music, and I have aspired to be an artist. However, my experience in the entertainment industry has been incredibly enriching. I was fortunate enough to attend Luke Bryan’s final show on tour, and I even got to join him on stage to perform a song together.” His latest album, titled Southern Galactic, was released in October 2023.
Following her third-place finish in season 16 of American Idol, the country singer known for “I Hope” spent time completing her album. She shared with TopMob News that playing at Stagecoach and touring with Brad Paisley were highlights, describing the latter as a dream come true. In October 2022, she and Cade Foehner, another Idol alum, expanded their family by welcoming their second child, son Augustine. Baylah, their first baby, was born nearly two years prior. In February 2024, they welcomed their third child.
