Fans have the chance to help create what could be the greatest LEGO set ever made featuring characters from the beloved franchise.
A “Sailor Moon” set designed by LEGO Ideas user teljesnegyzet has reached over 10,000 supporters on the official LEGO website. This milestone means LEGO will officially review the design to see if it can become a real LEGO product. A LEGO Review Board—made up of designers, product managers, and other experts—will build prototypes and evaluate whether the set meets LEGO’s quality standards.
New Sailor Moon LEGO Prototype Gets 1 Step Closer to Physical Release
I’m so excited about the potential LEGO Sailor Moon set! The designer, teljesnegyzet, explained on the LEGO Updates tab that every LEGO idea, including this one, goes through a really thorough review process. They have to make sure it’s fun to play with, safe, and really fits the LEGO brand – which makes total sense! And the best part? The review for this Sailor Moon design is starting this month, so we might hear something soon!
This LEGO set features five Sailor Scouts – Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Jupiter, and Venus – the main characters from the 1992 anime series Sailor Moon. It also includes a LEGO version of Luna the cat. The entire build consists of 2416 LEGO bricks and each Sailor Scout figure is fully poseable.
The Sailor Moon LEGO set, created by teljesnegyzet, is just one of many fan-made designs showcased on the LEGO Ideas website. This platform lets LEGO enthusiasts share their own set concepts and gather support from the community. The more support a design receives, the longer it stays visible on the site. If a design reaches 10,000 supporters, LEGO officially reviews it, which could lead to improvements and its eventual release as an official LEGO set.
Naoko Takeuchi’s Sailor Moon manga debuted in Nakayoshi magazine in 1991 and quickly became a popular sensation. The story primarily follows Usagi Tsukino, a typical middle school student who is also a Sailor Guardian. Alongside her fellow Guardians, Usagi battles various dangers from across the universe.
After becoming a popular manga, Sailor Moon expanded into two successful anime series, over six anime movies, a live-action TV show in 2003, and a huge amount of related merchandise. It’s also been featured in many beloved stage musicals, though recently those haven’t been as popular as before.
The Chinese portion of the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon The Super Live 2025 stage musical tour has been completely canceled over the last two months. Initially, all performances in Beijing were called off in November, with organizers citing “unavoidable circumstances and local decisions.” Shortly after, the cancellations expanded to include all shows scheduled for Hangzhou and Shanghai, effectively ending the tour’s run in China.
