Sam Mendes’ 4-Part The Beatles Movie Officially Unveils First Look at Paul, John, Ringo & George

Award-winning director Sam Mendes revealed the first glimpse of his upcoming film about the iconic band in February 2024. While the movie isn’t scheduled for release for over two years, fans are now getting a first look at the project.

The upcoming Beatles project isn’t a single movie, but a four-part cinematic experience. Director Mendes plans to release a film focusing on each member of the band. All four movies will premiere on April 7, 2028. After announcing most of the cast, the project offered a first glimpse through the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA).

The initial reveal showcased photos of the actors portraying the famous Beatles. According to the accompanying text, exclusive postcards advertising the new Beatles movies have been hidden around the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), and students are encouraged to find them.

A photo of Paul Mescal, the star of Gladiator II, looking remarkably like Paul McCartney is going viral. Fans are stunned by the resemblance, with one commenting, “He’s literally identical to Paul! Mescal looks amazing!”

Following the institute’s request, fans quickly located the postcards and shared them on social media, which also revealed the full cast, including Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr.

After news broke about a planned series of Beatles-themed movies, Barry Keoghan, known for his role in ‘Eternals,’ was the first actor announced for the project. Ringo Starr later confirmed Keoghan’s involvement in November. Sony Pictures, the studio distributing the films, revealed additional cast members in late October.

The cast of the upcoming Beatles biopic is growing! Saoirse Ronan (known from Little Women) signed on earlier this month to play Linda McCartney. Sony Pictures has also confirmed Mia McKenna-Bruce (Persuasion) as Maureen Starkey, Anna Sawai (Shogun), a winner of Emmy and Golden Globe awards, as Yoko Ono, and Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education, The White Lotus), an Emmy nominee, as Pattie Boyd.

Last November, the project officially announced George Martin, often called the “fifth Beatle,” as a key figure. The four-part film series also features actors from Game of Thrones.

Sony Pictures has yet to confirm the actors for Cynthia Lennon, Brian Epstein, and Ravi Shankar.
