Sam Raimi’s Fan-Favorite Horror Confirmed To Return, But With A Twist

As a huge Riverdale fan, I’m getting seriously hyped! The second-to-last episode of what’s been the most intense season yet is coming in less than a month, and honestly, things are never going to be the same in that town after it airs. I can just feel it!

The fourth issue of Dynamite Entertainment’s Archie x The Army of Darkness is coming out very soon! This next part of the horror story, written by Erik Burnham and illustrated by Bill Galvan, is scheduled to be available in stores on May 13th.

In the fourth issue of Dynamite Entertainment’s Archie x The Army of Darkness, the villains need Archie Andrews alive so they can open a gateway to hell for the Army of Darkness. Luckily, Ash is protecting Archie, and he’s experienced at fighting Deadites. When their initial plan fails, Ash’s evil twin creates copies of the Deadites to try and achieve their goal.

The story introduces five new evil characters: Bad Betty, Vile Veronica, Rotten Reggie, a sinister copycat of Jughead, and, most terrifyingly, Archie of Darkness! Will these five Deadites be enough to change everything? You’ll find out in the next-to-last chapter of Archie x The Army of Darkness!

Archie x The Army of Darkness Revisits Riverdale With A Sam Raimi-Inspired Twist

Fans will first see the terrifying events unfold in Riverdale in November 2025. The story brings Ash Williams to town as he searches for the Necronomicon Ex Mortis, a book Archie Andrews has unexpectedly discovered. This discovery sets the stage for the most frightening period in Riverdale’s history.

Jamie L. Rotante, Senior Director of Editorial at Archie Comics, says the story in issue #1, written by Erik Burham, will be an exciting adventure that blends classic Archie with something new. She also praises artist Bill Galvan, a long-time Archie contributor, for consistently capturing the characters’ personalities and creating visually striking and unique cover art.

Fans of the spooky side of Riverdale will be happy to hear that the popular comic book series, Afterlife With Archie, is returning. Written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and illustrated by Francesco Francavilla, the new series will again be penned by Aguirre-Sacasa, alongside Greg Berlanti of Berlanti Productions – a familiar pairing, given their successful work on Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Archie x The Army of Darkness #4 from Dynamite Entertainment goes on sale May 13.
