Liquid Swords, a studio created by Christofer Sundberg (formerly of Avalanche Studios), has revealed its open-world game, Samson: A Tyndalston Story. A new trailer showcasing the game is available to watch below.
The new trailer introduces us to the world of Samson: A Tyndalston Story – a large, open-world location called Tyndalston – and its main character, Samson. The story appears to center around Samson’s struggle with a large debt and his fight against constant threats as he tries to rebuild his life. According to the trailer, Tyndalston is a harsh place for debtors, and collectors won’t hesitate to use force to get their money.
The trailer mainly showed the story, but it also gave us quick glimpses of how the game will play. We saw some driving, including a car chase with the police, and a faster-paced chase through narrow city alleys. There were also brief moments of hand-to-hand combat, where the character Samson fights using fast strikes and grapples to take down enemies.
So, I’ve been checking out Samson: A Tyndalston Story, and it sounds like debt is a huge part of how the game works. Basically, you’ve got a limited number of actions you can take each day. On top of that, there’s a daily goal you have to reach to start paying off your debt. If you mess up and don’t hit that quota, the interest just piles up, making things even harder the next day. It sounds pretty stressful, honestly, but also really interesting!
In the game, Samson can fight in two main ways: hand-to-hand combat and weaponized driving. He’ll use movement, the environment, and whatever he can find to defeat enemies up close. During car chases, Samson can turn his vehicle into a powerful weapon using his driving skills. Players can also unlock over 25 upgrades through a skill tree to gain even more abilities.
The game Samson: A Tyndalston Story is coming to PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, though a release date hasn’t been announced yet. You can get a sneak peek at the game’s world by checking out screenshots released by Liquid Swords back in October 2024. These images offered an early look at the city of Tyndalston, even before the game had a title.
Also, be sure to read about the recent layoffs at Liquid Swords, which happened while they were still working on their first game.
