Sarah Paulson Debuts Transformation as Serial Killer Aileen Wuornos

Sarah Paulson has divorced her bob for a killer shag.  

Following the recent announcement that the actress from All’s Fair would play serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the Netflix series Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, she’s already getting into character and practicing the mindset of a killer.

On December 17th, photos emerged of Sarah on the set of a show produced by Ryan Murphy in Los Angeles. She was dressed as her character in a maroon robe and sweatpants, wearing a light brown, tapered wig and bleached eyebrows to resemble Aileen, who was convicted of six murders in Florida between 1989 and 1990 and later executed in 2002.

We don’t yet know how much of Sarah’s performance will be featured in the new anthology series. The fourth season will primarily focus on the story of Lizzie Borden—played by Ella Beatty—and the famous murders of her parents in 1892.

Despite her scary new role, the American Horror Story star said her frightening transformation won’t be a major part of the show.

She recently told Variety she has a new, unannounced project in the works. However, she’s always drawn to understanding what motivates people. She explained that if a role allows her to examine societal expectations and offer her own unique perspective, she’ll be very interested. She added that Ryan Murphy, a frequent collaborator, is aware of this passion.

Sarah wasn’t just drawn to the psychological aspects of the role; she also saw it as a chance to explore a different side of acting she’d long been interested in.

The actor, who played a role in Ratched, said they prefer knowing a character’s established background and concrete details – things that aren’t up for personal interpretation. Surprisingly, this actually gives them more creative freedom. They realized they enjoy fully stepping into someone else’s shoes and living their reality.

Fans haven’t seen the last of her impressive roles! Sarah will be back for the 13th season of AHS in October 2026, alongside familiar faces like Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, and Angela Bassett. New cast member Ariana Grande will also be joining them.

It’s been nearly five years since she was last in the series, and she’s thrilled to return to her role as a scream queen.

She said she was sad she hadn’t experienced it before, but excited to do it again. She explained it felt perfect because her desire to do it coincided with finally being able to reconnect with everyone involved.
