Robert Anthony Cruz is laughing at his banana slip.
Following an unsuccessful backflip attempt by a Savannah Bananas baseball player (whose Georgia-based team is renowned for their on-field stunts and viral social media fame), he swiftly addressed the awkward situation with a timely message.
In a video posted on Instagram Story on July 24th, Cruz casually mentioned that he’s fine with everyone finding humor in it. He admitted that he can’t help but chuckle whenever he revisits the clip himself, and finds the audio particularly amusing.
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old found humor in the situation, but he also clarified the events on the morning program that resulted in his error.
In simpler terms, Cruz said that he often performs flips, even while catching a ball, as demonstrated in a video on his Instagram. He also mentioned an instance where he did a backflip and caught a football live on NFL Live at ESPN headquarters. Over the course of his life, he’s done tens of thousands of backflips, so he had no reason to question his skills.
But, as the athlete noted, he is used to doing his acrobatics on a field—not in a TV studio.
As he spoke, he explained that during a flip, you’re trying to spot the ground as you spin. He recalled a moment when he jumped back and was confronted by a blinding light. The floor appeared unusually bright, causing him to lose his sense of direction in mid-air. Consequently, he under-rotated, and to make matters worse, his feet slipped unexpectedly.
He added, “Next thing I know, I am on the floor, and I’m rattled. I was pretty confused.”
As the chaos continued, Cruz noticed blood trickling down his face – it seemed he’d struck his head on the ground.
He mentioned that he received multiple stitches on his lip and chin. Luckily, there was a doctor in the same building, so he was able to receive medical attention right away.
“Aside from my damaged pride,” Cruz concluded, “I didn’t sustain any actually serious injuries.”

In February 2017, the eight-year-old daughter of Jamie Lynn Spears, named Maddie Aldridge, was operating an ATV close to their home in Louisiana. Unfortunately, she lost control and the vehicle flipped into a pond, causing her to be underwater for several minutes.
On an episode of Maria Menounos’ Better Together podcast in 2020, Jamie Lynn said, ‘When we managed to pull her out of the water and I saw her, followed by first responders taking her from me, we believed she was deceased. We thought we had lost our daughter.’
Two days following the incident, Maddie regained consciousness and was conversing again, although the family remained uncertain about the extent of the harm. About a few weeks later, she resumed her regular daily activities as usual.
Jamie Lynn expressed her gratitude, stating, “God granted me a precious gift by returning my daughter to me. I had temporarily lost her, but now she’s back in my life again.
2025 action comedy “Bride Hard,” starring Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp, experienced a dramatic turn during the final day of filming for Rebel, who plays a secret agent. In an interview with Access Hollywood in June 2025, Rebel shared that a gun accidentally hit her face during a fight scene, causing her nose to bleed. “It was a freak accident,” she said, adding that it happened on her last night of shooting. “I thought, ‘How unfortunate can my luck get?’
In the midst of a pool of her own blood, she confessed about the 2023 event, “I was absolutely terrified.” She continued to explain that an ambulance was needed and a plastic surgeon had to be called in due to the severity of the injury. If not, she would have been left with permanent disfigurement. Fortunately, they were able to bring in a plastic surgeon who performed the necessary stitches. Now, it’s impossible to notice any traces of the incident.
As a devoted follower, I’d like to share an unexpected incident that happened to Jimmy Fallon, the charismatic host of The Tonight Show. Last night, in a twist of unfortunate events, he nearly lost a finger right in the comfort of his own home. In a bid to save himself from falling, he grabbed onto the counter only for his ring to get stuck during the descent, violently yanking his finger along with it.
He referred to it as “forcible ring removal” and spent 10 days in the hospital while doctors made every effort to avoid amputation.
As a seasoned athlete who participates in long-distance running, swimming, and triathlons, I am none other than Zane Wach. In the summer of 2025, while hiking with my father, Ryan Wach, on California’s Mount Whitney, I almost succumbed to the perils of altitude sickness.
Ryan informed the SFGATE about a strange occurrence: The 14-year-old began to perceive things that weren’t real, such as snowmen and Kermit the Frog. He understood these were hallucinations.
On numerous occasions, Ryan successfully prevented his teenage son from straying over the edge of the cliff while they descended the path. “He seemed to be in a strange mental condition, and I’m unsure of what may have triggered it,” the father explained. “My theory is that it was likely a mix of fatigue, lack of sleep, perhaps some dehydration, and lingering effects from altitude sickness. Essentially, he began to question the reality around him.
On the third try, Ryan found himself too distant to save Zane, as his son plummeted approximately 120 feet from the precipice. After enduring a six-hour wait for an Inyo County Search & Rescue helicopter to arrive and transport Zane to Southern Inyo Hospital in Lone Pine, he was stabilized before being moved to a pediatric trauma center in Las Vegas. Subsequently, he was put into a medically induced coma, eventually resuming his own breathing.
Ryan mentioned that their situation with his injured teenager, who has sustained head trauma as well as a broken finger, ankle, and fractured pelvis, will likely become a survival story. However, he emphasized that they are currently still navigating through this challenging phase.
On the first day of 2023, Jeremy Renner, known for his role in Avengers, found himself dealing with a tricky situation at his Lake Tahoe residence. A truck was stuck in the snow on his driveway, so he decided to help clear it using a snowplow. However, after getting out of the machine, an unfortunate incident occurred as he was accidentally pulled under while attempting to prevent the plow from hitting his nephew. As a result, Jeremy Renner sustained 38 broken bones.
In his 2025 memoir titled “My Next Breath,” he recounted that on New Year’s Day, as I lay frozen on the ice, my pulse grew weak. Unbeknownst to my daughter, sisters, friends, father, and mother, it was then that I grew weary. Thirty minutes later, having labored to breathe manually for such a prolonged period, equivalent to performing numerous push-ups each minute for half an hour, it was there that I took my last breath.
Struggling against fractured bones, excessive blood loss, and the danger of hypothermia, he penned, “I believe I passed away—in fact, I’m convinced of it.” Upon the arrival of the EMTs, they observed that my heart rate had flatlined at 18, and with a heart rate of 18 beats per minute, one could say you’re almost certainly deceased.
In the devastating events of May 2025, I – a heartbroken fan – found myself grappling with the unthinkable as my beloved TikToker Emilie Kiser and her heroic partner Brady Kiser faced a tragedy beyond words. Their precious 3-year-old son Trigg Kiser fell into their Arizona home’s pool, forever changing their lives.
The Chandler Police Department informed USA Today that they responded to an emergency call at a home on May 12, regarding a child who was found unconscious in a backyard pool. Officers and firefighters provided CPR at the scene before transporting the toddler to Chandler Regional Hospital. Tragically, the young child passed away six days later.
Emilie subsequently initiated a legal action against the public authorities in Maricopa County, aiming to prevent the disclosure of information related to her husband’s death by the court. The lawsuit mentioned that Emilie is striving diligently for her surviving child, two-month-old Theodore. However, each day presents a struggle for her.
A trip to Thailand intended as a family vacation for Dr. Cara Hodgson transformed into the most harrowing 10 days of her life when she encountered an electrocution from power lines in December 2023. Following a fainting spell and a rush to the emergency room, the influencer spent the ensuing fortnight shuttling between hospitals, battling to recover her strength and struggling for survival, as she recounted in a New Year’s Day Instagram post. “I am incredibly fortunate to be alive today.
Instead of finding a reason to smile through the pain, the orthodontist discovered a fresh cause for joy amidst it. Sharing her thoughts, Cara said, “This incident served as a reminder for us all when we focus on minor matters – life itself is an invaluable gift. The ability to breathe, eat, speak, and move our bodies should be cherished and celebrated.
A regrettable incident transpired when Brazilian tourist Juliana Marins slipped and fell from a cliff on Mount Rinjani, an active volcano in Indonesia, in June 2025. Over the course of four days, a rescue team of 48 individuals faced challenges due to unfavorable weather, treacherous terrain, and poor visibility in the area before locating Juliana’s body. The Brazilian government confirmed this in a statement.
Today, the rescue team successfully made it to the location where Juliana Marins was, according to a post on an Instagram account offering updates from her family. Unfortunately, I must share the heartbreaking news that she did not survive. We are deeply touched by all the prayers, messages of love, and support that have been sent our way.
In my role as a lifestyle expert, let me share an incident from 2015 that involved actress Tori Spelling. During an Easter brunch at Benihana, a Japanese restaurant, she unfortunately tripped and sustained a burn on her right arm from one of their Hibachi grills. Following this incident, she underwent skin grafts for treatment. Eventually, she chose to take legal action against the restaurant.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: “In a twist of events, part of my leg was used to replace damaged skin on my arm during a procedure – an experience not everyone can claim. So here I am, literally sporting a piece of my thigh on my arm. It might sound unusual, but it’s the truth.
At France’s Rock&Cars festival in June 2024, comedian Tony Knight tragically lost his life when two large tree branches fell on him. Joanne Allen, the sister of Tony’s longtime partner Hayley Wright, shared this heartbreaking news in a GoFundMe message. “Tony was just 54 years old and living life to the fullest,” she wrote. “He was vibrant, healthy, joyful, and successful. He possessed an infectious charisma, a knack for humor, and an unwavering passion.
Indeed, his longtime love cherished him deeply. As Haley put it on her Instagram post, “He was an exceptionally gifted individual, versatile and talented in numerous ways.” She continued, “There seemed to be no task he couldn’t accomplish. He was a wonderful friend to many, a dedicated dog parent…but above all, he was my universe. Life will never be the same without him.
The planned celebration for Vistex, a software company based in Chicago, turned tragic in January 2024. As part of their 25th anniversary festivities, CEO Sanjay Shah and president Vishwanath Raju Datla were supposed to be lowered from an iron cage onto a stage during the party in India. However, two wires broke, causing them to plummet onto the concrete floor instead. This was confirmed by a company representative to The Times of India.
According to the newspaper report, Sanjay, who was 56 years old, lost his life in the hospital due to injuries he received from an accident. On the other hand, Vishwanath, aged 52, suffered a serious head trauma in the same incident and eventually passed away several months later.
In a 2022 Instagram video shared by Orlando Bloom along with UNICEF, he recounted an incident from when he was 19. He and some friends had attempted to reach the rooftop terrace of a three-story building using a drainpipe, but it gave way. As a result, he plummeted three floors through a window. Despite breaking several vertebrae in his back, Orlando’s spinal cord was miraculously unharmed, allowing him to survive the fall.
Despite being informed for four initial days in the hospital that he might never walk again, he began an arduous and painful journey of self-discovery and understanding. This journey unveiled patterns in his life that had led to multiple accidents, with the climax being a back injury, which was a close call with death.
2005 saw him exiting the hospital in a supportive back brace, grappling with both physical and emotional anguish. Yet, he plunged headlong into festivities immediately – even with his back brace intact – as he confided in GQ. “It took me a couple of months to come to terms with this being my life,” he admitted, “and I didn’t want to ruin it.
He stated that the experience has shaped every aspect of his life, explaining further that one doesn’t truly understand its value until it’s nearly lost. Previously, he would ride motorbikes and drive cars as if they were on a racetrack, which was quite reckless. It wasn’t for the thrill but simply because he enjoyed living dangerously. However, he has since become more relaxed.
