Savannah Guthrie is not hiding her pain.
The search for Nancy Guthrie, the mother of a Today show anchor, is ongoing. She recently gave her first interview with former co-worker Hoda Kotb, which will be broadcast in full on March 26th and 27th.
Savannah, visibly upset in a clip from the March 25th broadcast of Today, pleaded for someone to take responsibility. “We’re suffering terribly,” she said, her voice breaking. “It’s just too much to bear, especially when I think about what she endured.”
Savannah, married to Michael Feldman and a mother of two, along with her siblings Camron and Annie Guthrie, shared that she hasn’t been able to relax since her mother was reported missing on February 1st.
Savannah explained that she’s woken up every night, in the middle of the night. In the darkness, she finds herself imagining her daughter’s fear, and while the thoughts are horrifying, she can’t stop them from coming.
Although she’s understandably hurting because of her mother’s disappearance, she wants everyone to know she won’t pretend otherwise. More than anything, she just wants her mother to return home now.
Savannah’s colleagues on Today, like Hoda, Carson Daly, and Craig Melvin, praised her strength in doing the interview while going through a tough personal situation. Savannah herself shared that she wanted everyone to know she was doing okay and remaining resilient.
She went on, saying she hadn’t lost hope and was still fundamentally herself. She admitted she wasn’t sure who she would become, but she knew she would, eventually, be something new.
As she put it, “I’m holding onto my faith. I still believe.”

This announcement follows a statement released by Savannah and her family just three days prior. Savannah is currently in Tucson while the search for her mother, Nancy, continues, and the statement came shortly before the two-month anniversary of Nancy’s disappearance.
The family expressed their sincere thanks to the Tucson community, friends, and neighbors for all the support they’ve received, saying, “We are all a family now,” in a statement posted on Instagram on March 22nd.
The family has asked for the public’s help in finding their mother, sharing that they feel her absence deeply and won’t find peace until she’s found.

Nancy Guthrie, mother to Annie, Camron, and Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, around 9:30 p.m. on January 31st, according to the Pima County police.

Nancy, age 84, was reported missing on February 1st after a friend noticed she hadn’t been at church that morning and alerted her family, police said. Her children searched her property for about an hour before contacting authorities and filing a missing person report around noon.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos later explained the first steps of the investigation, which involved detectives specializing in homicides, at the victim’s home.
As a lifestyle expert covering this story, I have to say this situation is truly unsettling. Speaking to reporters on February 2nd, authorities explained they don’t usually deal with this type of incident, but the details emerging from the house are deeply concerning. What really stood out to them, and what prompted a closer look, was the initial description of the scene and what they ultimately discovered there.
Let me tell you, this case was unusual. Usually, our homicide team only gets involved when we have an actual death, a body to investigate. But this time, we were called in solely based on the information the land surveyors brought to us – it wasn’t a typical situation at all.

Okay, so after they looked around Nancy’s house, the police finally admitted something bad happened there. It’s like, duh! I knew it all along, but it’s good they’ve officially said it. It just…confirms everything. I’m so relieved they’re taking it seriously now.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos stated that investigators have confirmed they are dealing with a crime scene. He appealed to the public for assistance, noting that the community has a history of helping to solve difficult cases and he hopes they will do so again.
The sheriff pointed out that Nancy had trouble walking on her own – she couldn’t even walk 50 yards without help – which led him to suspect she didn’t disappear voluntarily.
He stated definitively that she didn’t simply leave on her own, emphasizing, “There’s evidence at the location suggesting she didn’t go voluntarily.”

The search for Nancy is ongoing, and officials are concerned because she needs daily medication to stay healthy, and she likely doesn’t have it with her.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos explained that an 84-year-old woman is facing serious health problems and urgently needs medication. Without it within 24 hours, her condition could become life-threatening.
We’re asking anyone with information about this – if you’ve seen or heard anything – to please get in touch. Call 911. We want to avoid another tragedy and really need the public’s help.
Although Nancy has had some health issues, Dr. Nanos highlighted that her mind remains sharp.
According to Dr. Nanos, Nancy Guthrie is mentally alert and this isn’t a case of dementia. She’s very sharp and the family wants to emphasize she didn’t simply wander off. Any physical limitations she has are simply due to her age.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the case of Nancy’s disappearance with a heavy heart. I truly hope the ongoing investigation leads to her safe return home. It’s all anyone can wish for at this point.
“I hope we find her safe and sound,” he emphasized, “but we cannot ignore what’s in front of us.”

The day after Nancy was reported missing, the anchor of the Today show publicly shared how difficult this time is for her family.
As a close friend of the family, I can share that they’ve expressed their deep gratitude for all the kind thoughts, prayers, and messages they’ve received. Their biggest priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely, and that’s what they’re completely focused on.
As a lifestyle expert, I want to express my gratitude to the law enforcement officers who have worked so diligently on this case. If you have any information that could help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department – every little bit counts.

Once Savannah confirmed her mother, Nancy, had been reported missing, her co-hosts on Today publicly expressed their support.
Jenna Bush Hager shared on the February 2nd episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that she and Nancy are friends, saying, “We love Nancy.”
She continued, saying they were thinking of Savannah and her family and sending their prayers to everyone affected.
Meanwhile, Sheinelle Jones emphasized the importance of community during this difficult time.
She felt the show was at its strongest when it asked viewers to help, encouraging them to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s department with any information related to the case, even if it seemed insignificant.
She added, “So we’re sending our prayers but we’re also sending our collective action.”
Before concluding the segment, both hosts continued, “We love you, Savannah.”

And Sunday Today anchor Willie Geist also urged fans to keep an eye out for Nancy.
On February 2nd, he posted on Instagram asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona. He also included the relevant phone number.
Savannah’s former colleague, Hoda Kotb, responded to the surprising announcement by posting a heartwarming photo of Savannah and Nancy together on the Today show set. In a simple message on Instagram from February 2nd, Hoda shared a red heart and praying hands emoji.

Police have labeled Nancy’s home in Arizona a crime scene, but they don’t think the public needs to be worried.
At a press conference on February 2nd, Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that he didn’t believe there was an immediate danger, but cautioned that the investigation was still ongoing and much work remained.
Savannah hasn’t appeared on Today since February 1st, when her mother was reported missing. However, local authorities have been checking in with her to ensure she’s okay.
The sheriff confirmed they had spoken with her. Her security team has been communicating with them all night, but they aren’t ruling anything out at this point.

On Feb. 2, Pima County police shared a series of updates on the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance.
Investigators now think the woman was taken from her home against her will, likely sometime during the night, according to a Pima County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson. Detectives are investigating the possibility that she was kidnapped.

Okay, so I just heard the worst news – Nancy might have been taken from her house in Arizona, while she was sleeping! It’s terrifying! And Savannah… oh, Savannah was so upset, she practically begged everyone to help bring Nancy home. It broke my heart to see her so worried, honestly. I’m just praying they find Nancy safe and sound!
I was so moved by something she shared recently on Instagram. She wrote about how much she believes in prayer – not just the act itself, but in the power of people coming together, raising their voices with love and hope. It’s a belief in the good in everyone, in humanity itself, and ultimately, in a higher power. It really resonated with me.
Savannah continued, thanking everyone for keeping her mother, Nancy, in their thoughts and prayers. She described Nancy as a woman of strong beliefs and a devoted person, and asked for continued prayers, believing they would provide comfort and strength right now.
She added, “we need you.”
To conclude her plea, Savannah shared a Bible verse from Isaiah.
She shared a verse from Isaiah, writing, ‘He will keep those with steadfast hearts and unwavering trust in the Lord in perfect peace.’ She believed this message held timeless wisdom for everyone.
Savannah continued, “Bring her home.”

Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that DNA evidence was discovered at Nancy’s house, which is now being treated as a crime scene.
We collected samples and are hoping they contain enough DNA to help us identify what we’re looking for, he told NBC News in a report on Today on February 3rd.
At a press conference held two days after Nancy went missing, Nanos explained what happened leading up to her disappearance.
According to Nanos, the doorbell camera stopped working at 1:47 a.m., about four hours after she got back from a family visit. She shared this information at a press conference on February 5th.
The software identified someone at the door, but the video was automatically deleted because Nancy didn’t have an active subscription. However, the representative assured her they were still working to recover the footage.
The sheriff explained that Nancy’s pacemaker app lost connection with her phone at 2:28 a.m. Later, at 11:56 a.m., her family found her missing, and they called 911 at 12:03 p.m. to report it to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
When a situation unfolds, things move quickly. Within about 10 minutes, our first officers are on the scene. That’s when we kick into gear – sending in search and rescue teams to help anyone in need, while our detectives start gathering information and figuring out what happened. It’s all about a fast, coordinated response.

On February 4th, Savannah, Camron, and Annie read letters they had written, hoping to convince whoever might be holding their mother, Nancy, to bring her home safely.
In a video posted to Instagram, the family spokesperson said they are doing everything possible and are willing to communicate. However, they expressed concern about the potential for misinformation, stating they need definitive proof their loved one is alive and in the possession of those they are communicating with.
She explained, ‘My mom is the center of our world and everything to us.’ She’s very frail and lives with constant pain, and unfortunately, she doesn’t have the medication she desperately needs to manage it and improve her quality of life.
The next day, Camron confirmed in a separate video that the family was still “waiting for contact.”
We’re asking whoever has our mother to please contact us. We haven’t received any direct communication, and we desperately need to establish contact to begin resolving this situation.
During a press conference on February 5th, FBI agent Heith Janke announced the arrest of Derrick Callella from California. Callella is accused of sending fake texts as part of an attempt to profit from the situation, and authorities are investigating a detailed ransom letter shared with TMZ as a serious threat. Callella has not yet entered a plea and was released on a $20,000 bond.
However, he noted, the Guthrie family was “still waiting for communication.”

On February 7th, the day officials told Today they had searched Annie’s Arizona property as a routine part of the investigation, Savannah posted a new video on Instagram suggesting they’d received a response to a previous request.
Speaking while holding hands with Camron and Annie, she said they received the message and understand its contents. She pleaded for their mother’s return, explaining that it’s the only thing that will bring them peace and allow them to celebrate with her.
And if her intentions weren’t clear, Savannah added, “This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”

Investigators shared surveillance photos of a person of interest in the case on February 10th.
Footage from a camera on Nancy’s property shows a person wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack walking up to the house. The individual then appears to punch the camera, damaging it. Police had previously noted the camera was broken when they arrived at the scene.
For the past eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been collaborating with private companies to find any lost, damaged, or hidden images and videos from Nancy Guthrie’s home. This effort was necessary because recording devices had been removed. They were able to recover the video from data still stored on the system’s servers, according to a statement released to TopMob News.
“Working with our partners,” the note continued, “law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”
Following the FBI’s release of video showing someone approaching Nancy’s house, investigators shared details describing the suspect.
According to the FBI’s Phoenix office, the suspect is a man between 5’9” and 5’10” tall with an average build. He was seen in a video wearing a black ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack with a capacity of 25 liters.
The FBI is now offering a $100,000 reward – up from $50,000 – for information that helps find Nancy Guthrie or leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.

After Nancy had been missing for over two weeks, Pima County Sheriff Nanos released a statement to explain who might be connected to the case.
In a statement on February 16th, authorities confirmed that the entire Guthrie family – including all siblings and their spouses – has been ruled out as suspects in this case. They emphasized the family has been fully cooperative and are themselves considered victims.

The gloves discovered close to Nancy’s house didn’t seem to connect with the rest of the evidence in the case, according to the police.
On March 2nd, Pima County Sheriff Nanos told KVOA News that investigators initially believed a pair of gloves found about two miles from the victim’s home – gloves that contained DNA – were related to a restaurant. This was nearly three weeks after the gloves were discovered.
Although some people noticed the gloves in the doorbell camera footage looked similar to those found near the crime scene, Nanos dismissed this as just a guess. Investigators had already identified the glove’s owner – an employee at a local restaurant – and confirmed they were not connected to the case.
