Savannah Guthrie wants her kids to soak up every second of their childhood.
That’s why Michael Feldman and his wife, the host of Today, are still holding off on getting cell phones for their children, Vale, 11, and Charley, 8.
Savannah stated she avoids social media and smartphones altogether. She shared this with TopMob News at a World Mental Health Day gala in New York City on October 9th, an event hosted by Project Healthy Minds.
The 53-year-old woman understands her children desire material possessions, but she’s trying to delay giving them those things in hopes they’ll focus on enjoying the present.
Currently, Savannah lets Vale use her phone to chat with friends. As she’s mentioned before, Vale did have to sign an agreement outlining the rules for using the phone first.
Still, Savannah and her kids have a very open line of communication.
We definitely encourage open communication about emotions here,” she told TopMob. “While we accept all feelings, we don’t accept all behaviors. You’re always welcome to share what you’re feeling, and we’re not going to shy away from difficult conversations.”
Savannah explained that she often tells her children that feelings, even sad ones, are temporary. She compares them to weather patterns – like a storm that fills the sky, but eventually passes. She wants them to understand that moods come and go, just like the weather.
Savannah feels the same way as her colleagues. She specifically mentioned that hearing co-host Carson Daly discuss his own anxiety on the show was a turning point for her, making her understand how crucial it is to talk openly about mental health.
She remembered the conversation as being incredibly helpful. It made many people feel less isolated and understood.
Savannah shared that Carson is not just a coworker, but a close friend—someone she considers like family. She said they work together daily and she feels a brotherly connection with him.

As many of you know, family is incredibly important to me. I’m a proud mom to three wonderful children: my son Kayin, and my twins, Uche and Clara. Sadly, my beloved husband, Uche Ojeh, passed away in May 2025 after a really brave fight with brain cancer. It’s a loss I feel deeply, but I cherish every moment we had together and I’m dedicated to raising our kids with the love and values he instilled in us.
In a 2015 essay for Today, Sheinelle explained that she encourages her three children to act as a team and support one another. However, she’s also realized that each child needs to feel individually special and recognized for who they are.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always said family is everything, and that really hit home for me when, three years after marrying my wonderful wife, Lindsay Czarniak, in 2011, I became a dad. It was, without a doubt, the most incredible role I’ve ever taken on.

Oh my gosh, I just *have* to tell everyone about Jenna Bush Hager! Not only is she the sweetest on TV, but she has the most adorable family! She and her husband, Henry Hager, are parents to three little ones – Mila, Poppy, and Hal. Seriously, they’re all so precious, I can’t even handle it!
During an interview in March 2025, she explained that while three children isn’t necessarily ideal, it feels like the right number for her family.
Well, another Halloween has come and gone! It’s always such a special day, and this year was no exception. I had a wonderful time celebrating with my sweet daughter, Haley Joy. It feels good to make those memories with her.

The former NBC Nightly News anchor shares sons Stefan Holt and Cameron Holt with his wife Carol Hagen.
But more recently, he became a proud “granddude” to three grandchildren: Henry, Samuel and James.
You know, when my son and his wife were expecting their first child, she actually asked *me* what I wanted to be called as a grandparent! It was such a sweet moment. I told her I was thinking ‘Granddude.’ I loved the idea of acknowledging I’m getting older with the ‘Grand’ part, but then adding ‘dude’ to show I still feel young at heart and have a bit of energy left! It felt like the perfect balance of respect and fun.
