Authorities sharing insight into their investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.
A day after Savannah Guthrie, the anchor of Today, reported her mother, Nancy, missing in Tucson, Arizona, the local sheriff, Chris Nanos, provided details about what authorities found at Nancy’s home.
Following our investigation of the crime scene, we’ve confirmed that a crime did indeed occur, the official announced at a press conference on February 2nd. They are now asking for the public’s assistance, emphasizing the community’s history of helping to solve difficult cases and requesting that support once again.
He explained that Nancy, who is 84 years old and has health problems, needs medication regularly. Without it within 24 hours, her condition could become life-threatening.
During the conference, the Sheriff explained how investigators realized they were dealing with a crime scene, noting that Nancy had difficulty moving around as a key factor.
He stated definitively, “We’re certain she didn’t simply leave on her own.” He went on to explain that evidence at the location suggests she didn’t leave voluntarily.
Besides worries about Nancy’s health and medication, Sheriff Nanos—who previously stated she is mentally alert—also expressed concern that she might have been affected by the weather.

After hearing about Nancy’s disappearance, the team at Savannah’s Today show – including Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones – expressed their support.
Jenna shared on February 2nd’s Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that she’s personally close to Nancy and is very concerned about her getting the medication she needs. She also expressed deep concern and sent prayers to Savannah and her family during this difficult time.

I was a little worried when I didn’t see Savannah on Today this morning! Thankfully, she did manage to send a quick message to the show, even though she couldn’t be there in person. It’s good to know she’s okay – she has a brother, Camron Guthrie, and a sister, Annie Guthrie, who I’m sure are also relieved.
Our family is incredibly grateful for all the kind thoughts, prayers, and supportive messages we’ve received,” she stated. “Bringing Nancy home safely is our top priority right now.
Savannah expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts on the case and asked anyone with information to please reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
