Savannah Guthrie is back with her Today family.
The news anchor, who first appeared on the morning show in 2011, was back in the studio for the first time since taking a leave to help look for her mother, Nancy Guthrie.
Oh my gosh, I just heard the news! Savannah Guthrie actually came to the studio today to see everyone – her TODAY family, you know? A source told me she wanted to thank them all in person. Apparently, she’s still dealing with everything happening with Nancy, and her priority is being there for her family and getting Nancy home safe. But the best part is, she is planning to come back to the show eventually! I’m just so relieved and sending all my love to her and her family. I can’t wait to see her back on my screen!
The news means Savannah will finally be back with her colleagues at the Today show, and it officially confirms her return to the morning program – something viewers have been eagerly anticipating while the search for Nancy goes on.
Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones talked about Savannah’s visit on the show. They shared that Savannah greeted everyone with a hug and spoke warmly to the crew. She also expressed her hope to return, saying that despite how difficult it is, the show feels like home to her.
Savannah returned to Today on March 5th for the first time since her mother, Nancy, was reported missing in early February.
Speaking for my family, I want to express our gratitude for all the kind thoughts, prayers, and supportive messages we’ve received,” she said in a statement on February 2nd, as reported by Today. “Our top priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely.

That day, Savannah publicly asked for support, requesting her Instagram followers to pray for her mother, whom she lovingly referred to as her “beloved mom.”
Shortly after sharing her story, Today reported that Savannah Guthrie would not be covering the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, as she continues to search for her mother. On February 4th, the mother of two shared a video with her siblings, Camron and Annie Guthrie, renewing their appeal for the safe return of Nancy.
Savannah explained in an Instagram post that her mother is the center of their family and a source of comfort. Her mother is very sick, constantly in pain, and doesn’t have the medication she needs to feel better and stay alive.

Savannah and her siblings made another video, hoping to reach whoever might be holding Nancy captive.
I was so moved by what Savannah shared on Instagram on February 7th. Holding Camron and Annie’s hands, she simply asked for their mother to come home. It was heartbreaking, but so powerful – they just want to be together and celebrate as a family, and that’s all they need to feel at peace. It really struck me how much they’re hoping for a reunion.
The search for 84-year-old Nancy is ongoing, and officials say it could take a significant amount of time – anywhere from an hour to several weeks or months – to find her, according to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos.
I was so relieved to hear him tell the New York Times on February 13th that they weren’t giving up. He made it clear they’re determined to find Nancy, and they’re going to track down whoever is responsible. It gives me hope to know they’re still fighting.

Oh my gosh, I’m so worried! Nancy Guthrie, Savannah Guthrie’s mom – and mother to Annie and Camron too – she’s missing! Her family last saw her at her home in Tucson, Arizona, around 9:30 PM on January 31st, according to the police. I’m just hoping she’s okay and they find her soon! It’s just… so scary!

Nancy, age 84, was reported missing on February 1st after a friend noticed she hadn’t been at church that morning and contacted her family, police said. Her children searched her property for about an hour before calling authorities to report her missing around noon.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos later explained the first steps of the investigation, which involved detectives specializing in homicides, at the victim’s home.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen a lot, and let me tell you, this situation is truly unsettling. I was speaking with authorities, and they explained that while they don’t usually respond to incidents like this, the details emerging from the house are deeply concerning. It really stood out to them – both what they were initially told and what they actually discovered inside made this one different, and frankly, quite disturbing.
This isn’t how things usually work,” Nanos explained. “Normally, our homicide detectives are called out when someone dies, when we have a body to investigate. In this case, we sent them based solely on the information the surveyors provided.”

After looking into what happened, officials said they think a crime occurred at Nancy’s house.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos stated that investigators now believe they have confirmed a crime scene after processing the area. He appealed to the public for assistance, noting the community has consistently helped solve difficult cases and he hopes they will do so again.
The sheriff pointed out that Nancy had trouble getting around – she couldn’t walk even a short distance on her own – which led him to suspect something wasn’t right with her disappearance.
He stated, “We’re certain she didn’t simply leave by herself. Evidence at the location suggests she didn’t leave on her own.”

The search for Nancy is ongoing, and officials are stressing that she requires daily medication to stay healthy, and she likely doesn’t have it with her.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos explained that an 84-year-old woman is facing serious health issues and urgently needs medication. Without it within 24 hours, her condition could become life-threatening.
We’re asking anyone with information about this case – if you’ve seen or heard anything, please get in touch. Call 911. We want to avoid another tragedy and need the public’s help.
Although Nancy has faced some health challenges, Dr. Nanos highlighted that her mental sharpness remains excellent.
According to Dr. Nanos, Nancy Guthrie is mentally alert and this situation isn’t connected to dementia. She’s very sharp and aware. The family wants to emphasize that she didn’t simply wander off, and any physical limitations she has are simply due to her age.
With the search for Nancy still ongoing, Nanos expressed his wish for her to come home safely.
“I hope we find her safe and sound,” he emphasized, “but we cannot ignore what’s in front of us.”

The day after Nancy was reported missing, the anchor of the Today show shared how difficult this time is for her family.
Speaking for my family, I want to express our gratitude for all the kind thoughts, prayers, and messages we’ve received,” she shared on February 2nd during an appearance on NBC’s morning show. “Our top priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely.
She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts in the investigation and asked anyone with relevant information to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Once Savannah Guthrie announced that her mother, Nancy, had been reported missing, her colleagues on the Today show publicly expressed their support.
Jenna Bush Hager shared on the February 2nd episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that she and Nancy are friends, saying, “We love Nancy.”
She continued, saying they were keeping Savannah and her family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Meanwhile, Sheinelle Jones emphasized the importance of community during this difficult time.
She said she felt the show truly represented the community at its best when it asked viewers to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s department with any information related to the case, even if it seemed insignificant.
She added, “So we’re sending our prayers but we’re also sending our collective action.”
Before concluding the segment, both hosts continued, “We love you, Savannah.”

And Sunday Today anchor Willie Geist also urged fans to keep an eye out for Nancy.
On February 2nd, he posted on Instagram asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona. He also included the sheriff’s department’s phone number, stating that she was missing.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the news about Savannah, and it was lovely to see the support from her former co-host, Hoda Kotb. Hoda shared a really sweet photo of Savannah and Nancy together on the Today set, and her Instagram caption was just a simple red heart and praying hands – a beautiful and heartfelt message of support.

Police have labeled Nancy’s home in Arizona a crime scene, but they don’t think the public needs to be worried.
Pima County Sheriff Nanos said at a press conference on February 2nd that he doesn’t believe there is an immediate danger, but emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and there’s still much work to be done.
Savannah hasn’t been on Today since February 1st, when her mother was reported missing. However, local authorities have been checking in with her to ensure she’s okay.
The sheriff confirmed they had spoken with her. Her security team has been communicating with them all night, but they aren’t ruling anything out at this point.

On Feb. 2, Pima County police shared a series of updates on the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance.
Investigators now think the woman was taken from her home against her will, likely during the night, according to a Pima County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson. Detectives are investigating the possibility that she was kidnapped.

After news broke that Nancy might have been taken from her home in Arizona while she was asleep, Savannah made a heartfelt plea.
In a recent Instagram post on February 2nd, she shared her faith, writing, ‘We believe in the power of prayer, in people coming together with love and hope, in the goodness of humanity, and most importantly, in God.’
Savannah continued, thanking everyone for keeping her mother, Nancy, in their thoughts and prayers. She described Nancy as a woman of strong beliefs and a devoted person, and asked for continued prayers, believing they would provide comfort and strength right now.
She added, “we need you.”
To conclude her plea, Savannah shared a Bible verse from Isaiah.
She shared a verse from Isaiah, writing, ‘He will keep those with steadfast hearts and unwavering trust in the Lord in perfect peace.’ She believed this message held timeless wisdom for everyone.
Savannah continued, “Bring her home.”

Oh my gosh, you guys, Sheriff Nanos just confirmed it! They found DNA at Nancy’s house – her house! It’s officially a crime scene now, which, honestly, I knew all along something was terribly wrong. This DNA… it has to lead us to whoever did this. I’m just so anxious for them to find out who it is! It’s a huge step, though, a real breakthrough, and I’m clinging to any piece of information I can get.
We collected samples and are hopeful they contain enough DNA to help us identify what we’re investigating,” he said in a report shared on Today on February 3.
Two days after Nancy went missing, Nanos held a press conference to explain what happened leading up to her disappearance.
I’ve been following this case closely, and it’s chilling. Apparently, just around 1:47 a.m., about four hours after she got back from a family visit, her doorbell camera went offline – that’s what was shared at the press conference on February 5th.
The software identified someone at the door, but the video was automatically deleted because Nancy didn’t pay for a subscription. However, the representative assured her they were still working to recover the footage.
The sheriff explained that Nancy’s pacemaker app lost connection with her phone at 2:28 a.m. Later, at 11:56 a.m., her family found she was missing, and they called 911 at 12:03 p.m. to report it to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
About ten minutes after receiving the report, he explained that patrol teams would arrive, assess the situation, and begin a response involving both search-and-rescue and detective units.

On February 4th, Savannah, Camron, and Annie read letters they had written, hoping to reach their mother and anyone who might be holding her, and asking for her to be brought home safely.
In a video posted to Instagram, the family spokesperson said they’re doing everything possible and are willing to communicate. However, they’re concerned about the possibility of misinformation and need clear, undeniable proof that their loved one is still alive and in the custody of those they are communicating with.
My mom is the center of our world and everything to us,” she said. “Her health is really delicate, and she’s constantly in pain. Right now, she doesn’t have the medication she needs to stay alive and feel better.
The next day, Camron confirmed in a separate video that the family was still “waiting for contact.”
We’re asking whoever has our mother to please contact us. We haven’t received any direct communication and need to establish a way to connect so we can begin to resolve this situation.
During a press conference on February 5th, FBI agent Heith Janke announced the arrest of Derrick Callella from California. Callella is accused of sending hoax texts related to the situation, apparently to make money from the publicity. Authorities are also investigating a detailed ransom letter shared with TMZ and are treating it as a serious threat. Callella has not yet entered a plea and was released on a $20,000 bond.
However, he noted, the Guthrie family was “still waiting for communication.”

On February 7th, the day officials told Today they had searched Annie’s Arizona home as a routine part of the investigation, Savannah posted a new video on Instagram suggesting they had received a response to a previous request.
Holding Camron and Annie’s hands, she said in the video, “We understand your message, and we’re asking you to please bring our mother back so we can celebrate with her. That’s the only thing that will bring us peace.”
And if her intentions weren’t clear, Savannah added, “This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”

Investigators released photos of a person of interest in the case on February 10th.
Footage from a camera on Nancy’s property shows someone wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack walking up to the house. The person then appears to punch the camera, damaging it. Police had previously noted the camera was broken when they arrived at the scene.
For the past eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working with private companies to find any lost, damaged, or hidden images or videos from Nancy Guthrie’s home. This effort was necessary because recording devices had been removed. They were able to recover the video from data still stored on the system’s servers, according to a statement released with accompanying photos.
“Working with our partners,” the note continued, “law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”
Two days after the FBI shared video of the person who went near Nancy’s house, investigators provided details about the suspect’s appearance.
According to the FBI’s Phoenix office, the suspect is a man around 5’9” to 5’10” tall with an average build. He was seen in a video wearing a black ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack with a capacity of 25 liters.
The FBI is now offering a $100,000 reward – up from $50,000 – for information that helps find Nancy Guthrie or leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.

After Nancy had been missing for over two weeks, Pima County Sheriff Nanos released a statement to explain who might be connected to the case.
In a statement released on February 16th, authorities confirmed that the entire Guthrie family – including all siblings and their spouses – have been ruled out as suspects. They emphasized the family has been fully cooperative and are themselves considered victims in this case.

The gloves discovered near Nancy’s house didn’t match the other evidence in the case, police discovered.
On March 2nd, Pima County Sheriff Nanos told KVOA News that investigators initially believed a pair of gloves found about two miles from the victim’s home – gloves that contained DNA evidence – were simply lost from a restaurant. This was nearly three weeks after the gloves were discovered.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this case closely, and a lot of people noticed the gloves in the doorbell footage looked similar to ones owned by someone who works at a local eatery. But Detective Nanos quickly dismissed that as just speculation. They actually tracked down the glove’s owner and confirmed they had absolutely no connection to the case. It was a dead end, unfortunately.
