Say Bonjour to New Actors Joining the White Lotus Season 4 Cast

These actors are saying “oui, oui” to a stay at The White Lotus resort.

HBO Max announced some new cast members for the fourth season of the dark comedy series, and the lineup is sure to get fans eager for the next installment, which will take place in France.

Actor Steve Coogan, known for his roles in films like Philomena and 12 Years a Slave, and the TV show I’m Alan Partridge, will be staying at the luxury resort, according to several reports. He’s been nominated for an Oscar twice.

Oh my gosh, you guys, it’s not just him joining the show! We have Caleb Jonte Edwards coming on board too! I’ve been following his work and while he was amazing in Black Snow (even just as a guest!), I can’t believe he’s going to be a star in season four! I’m seriously losing it – the cast just keeps getting better and better!

TopMob News contacted Steve and Caleb’s representatives, and HBO Max, for a statement, but they haven’t responded yet.

These actors aren’t the only new faces joining the popular show White Lotus. In December, it was revealed that Hunger Games actor Alexander Ludwig and singer AJ Michalka of Aly & AJ would also be appearing in the series.

Although specifics about their roles weren’t revealed yet, AJ confirmed the news with a playful post on her Instagram Story, simply writing, “Checking in.”

We now know some of the guests for the next season of The White Lotus, but those aren’t the only details released so far. The show still doesn’t have an official premiere date.

Filming for the French scenes took place mainly at the Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez, as reported by several sources in January. Creator Mike White selected this location as the primary shooting spot.

The 19th-century palace is a perfect fit for the show’s glamorous style, continuing the tradition of stunning locations like Hawaii, Italy, and Thailand. Originally built as a palace, the French estate was transformed into a luxury hotel in the 1920s and is now a part of the prestigious Airelles Collection, according to the hotel’s website.

The resort is also ideal for the show’s wealthy characters because rooms can cost over $12,000 during the busiest summer months.

Wow, Mike has really outdone himself with this new installment! It’s so exclusive, and I can tell even the actors from past seasons are paying attention to what he’s doing. It’s exciting to watch!

Jason Isaacs, who appeared in the third season of The White Lotus with Patrick Schwarzenegger, Parker Posey, Aimee Lou Wood, and Walton Goggins, confessed he’s a little jealous of the cast who will be filming in France.

Mike is really raising the bar with this latest installment of the series, and it’s clear his former castmates are paying attention.

Jason Isaacs, who appeared in the third season of The White Lotus with Patrick Schwarzenegger, Parker Posey, Aimee Lou Wood, and Walton Goggins, has said he wishes he could be with the cast filming in France – he’s a little jealous!

Jason admitted to feeling envious, telling Entertainment Tonight on the 2026 Golden Globes red carpet that the new season’s location in France made travel much easier for him than the previous shoot in Thailand. However, he explained his real jealousy stemmed from the fact that some of his friends are involved and will have an amazing experience.

As a huge fan, I was thrilled to hear HBO officially greenlit The White Lotus for a fourth season! They announced it way back in January 2025, even before Season 3 came out. Apparently, Mike White, the brilliant creator, had already pitched them some fantastic ideas for another round of wealthy guests getting into trouble – and let me tell you, it sounds like more of the deliciously dark and chaotic fun we’ve come to expect!

HBO CEO Casey Bloys stated in November that if Mike wants to continue the show for a fourth season, it will happen.

Production on season four will likely kick off in 2026, according to Variety.

HBO announced in December that filming would take place in France, and in January, several sources confirmed the main location: the Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez. This 19th-century palace is now a luxury hotel.

Before the announcement was made, actress Parker Posey, who previously appeared in the show, told TopMob News that the cast of The White Lotus was planning to film in France.

White and fellow producers had been dropping hints, too.

HBO Programming executive Francesca Orsi told Deadline in February that they’re planning to scout locations over the next few weeks. While she wouldn’t reveal specific places, she indicated they’re likely to film somewhere in Europe.

Chances, she emphasized.

Orsi explained that while they’ve discussed potential filming locations in a few countries, they haven’t started looking at specific sites yet, so there’s no news to share at this time.

After the season three finale aired on April 6th, White told HBO he wanted to move away from the show’s typically dramatic and intense storytelling style in the next season.

“But,” he added, “there’s always room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.”

During the Vivid Festival in Sydney in June 2023, White shared that Australia is a place he’s always wanted to visit.

He said it sounded like a lot of fun, adding that the incredible talent and obvious beauty meant everything seemed perfect for the opportunity.

In December 2025, HBO announced that Alexander Ludwig, known for his role in The Hunger Games, and AJ Michalka of the musical duo Aly & AJ, would be joining the cast. Given that both actors have released music albums in the past, their characters might also have musical abilities.

I was really surprised and honestly a little heartbroken to hear that Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, the incredible composer behind the music for The White Lotus, won’t be returning for season four. Apparently, he and the show’s creator, Mike White, had creative differences that actually started way back with the very first season. It’s such a loss – his music was a huge part of what made the show so special to me!

Tapia de Veer explained to the New York Times that a few months prior, he’d informed the team he wouldn’t be returning. He chose not to tell Mike Flanagan directly until the very end, wanting to deliver the news as a surprise. However, Flanagan did eventually find out before the season concluded.

Tapia de Veer described the journey to creating the memorable opening theme for the first (and second) season as difficult. Despite its eventual success, he explained that White initially didn’t want the music.

He wasn’t asked to change the show’s opening sequence for the third season, but he did it anyway, which upset many fans.

After the change was made public, I was contacted by media outlets like TMZ, and even people from England and France, all wanting a comment. The reaction was incredibly strong – people were really upset about the new theme. I suggested to the producer that we eventually release the full version, including the ‘ooh-loo-loo-loos,’ because I thought fans would be shocked to learn that was the direction it was heading in all along. He agreed, but Mike ultimately decided against it; he didn’t think it was a good idea.

The composer explained that they’d already had what felt like their final argument at that point, and he was completely unwilling to consider anything else.

On April 8th’s episode of The Howard Stern Show, White described Tapia de Veer’s public complaints as a “low” and inappropriate act.

I really don’t understand what went wrong,” White explained. “Now I’m seeing interviews where he’s talking about his departure as a publicity move, and it just feels like he didn’t have any respect for me.

The producer explained they never actually had a real conflict. He admitted the other person claimed they were feuding, but it was mostly just him offering feedback and suggestions.

According to White, their working relationship was successful for the first two seasons because they openly exchanged ideas. However, by the third season, Tapia de Veer no longer wanted to collaborate – he didn’t want to share his work or receive feedback, and he stopped attending recording sessions.

And, White added, “He’s definitely making a big deal out of just a creative difference.”

Jennifer Coolidge was happily surprised that Jon Gries, who played both Tanya’s intriguing love interest Greg in the first season and her scheming husband in the second, was willing to return for season three as the villainous widower Gary. However, Gries has indicated that, as far as he’s aware, his character’s romantic storyline is finished.

However, that’s what he thought last time.

He told The Hollywood Reporter that he doesn’t plan on returning, but isn’t ruling it out completely, especially after the season three finale kept Gary’s secret hidden. He added that he always considers each departure to be permanent.

Honestly, the best part of this whole show, and I’ve thought about this a lot, is how he could just completely reset everything! He actually told The New Yorker he could ‘burn down the house’ at the end of every season and just start fresh! But it’s proven that even with all these new people, if someone isn’t actually gone for good… well, you just never know what’s going to happen!

Mike White consistently keeps people guessing with his creative choices,” said actor Jeremy Allen White to The Hollywood Reporter. “I didn’t expect to be back for a second season, and the same was true for the third. He always adds unexpected twists. I’d definitely be interested in returning, but I’m not sure if my character’s story has fully run its course.”

Unless the show creates a prequel or introduces a multiverse storyline, it’s unlikely Jennifer Coolidge will reprise her role as Tanya except through flashbacks or dream sequences. Despite her character’s death in the season two finale – revealed as the mystery body after being the only returning character from season one – fans have still held out hope for her return.

While White acknowledges missing Coolidge, he stands by his choice to eliminate Tanya, despite her good intentions, naiveté, and immense wealth.

Coolidge described White as someone who stands by his choices, speaking on TopMob News in January 2023 after the season finale. She said he’s a great friend, but he’d clearly made up his mind. He wanted a grand, over-the-top, and dramatic conclusion to The White Lotus 2, and that meant Tanya had to be sacrificed.

She confirmed to The New Yorker that she wouldn’t be returning for the third season, which was filmed in Thailand, stating, “I don’t think Tanya’s ever coming back, so I have to accept that.”
