The 2006 action-adventure game Scarface: The World Is Yours is being re-released on PC. It’s currently available to purchase through the Epic Games Store, and a wider release date is coming soon. It’s currently unknown if the game will also be released on consoles.
So, I was really excited to hear that Scarface: The World Is Yours is finally coming to PC! The publisher, EC Digital, explained that the game actually went live on the Epic Games Store a bit earlier than planned – it was a mistake with their system. They’re working hard to get it ready for Steam now, but they also said the Epic Games Store version might still have a few glitches since they’re still finalizing everything. I’m just glad it’s happening, even if it’s a little bumpy!
The game launched on one platform ahead of schedule because of a technical problem during setup, the publisher explained in a Steam post. They confirmed that Steam is still the main platform for the full release and they’re working quickly to get the Steam version finished.
When Scarface: The World Is Yours comes to Steam, players will get a free downloadable update to improve the game’s graphics. This upgrade is optional and uses artificial intelligence to enhance the visuals.
Originally launched in 2006 for PC, Xbox, and PS2 (with a Wii version following in 2007), Scarface: The World Is Yours came out during the peak of popularity for open-world crime games like the Grand Theft Auto trilogy (Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas). It was one of several games, including 2006’s The Godfather and the True Crime series, that aimed to capitalize on the success of this popular genre.
In Scarface: The World Is Yours, players take on the role of Tony Montana following his betrayal by Sosa. Having lost his fortune, home, and criminal empire at the end of the film, Tony is determined to rebuild. The game is set in Miami and features a character modeled after Al Pacino, though André Sogliuzzo provides the voice acting.
The game wasn’t groundbreaking in terms of gameplay, but it stood out from other games of its time with its violent content and the protagonist’s aggressive language when engaging in fights.
In Scarface: The World Is Yours, players help Tony Montana rebuild his criminal empire. This involves seizing control of neighborhoods, laundering money, and forging new business deals to keep the profits coming in.
When it was released, Scarface: The World Is Yours was often praised for successfully capturing the feel of the original Scarface film, earning comparisons to games made by Rockstar.
