Scarlett Johansson Details “Busy” Back-to-School Season With Her Kids

Scarlett Johansson has a lot on her plate.

Apart from marking her first directorial role in the movie “Eleanor the Great“, the 40-year-old woman is also managing the hustle and bustle of the school year, as she takes care of son Cosmo (age 4) with husband Colin Jost, daughter Rose (age 10) from her previous relationship with Romain Dauriac, and navigating through this hectic back-to-school period.

Scarlett expressed to Francesca Amiker from TopMob News during the North American premiere of Eleanor the Great at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival that it was incredibly busy. In fact, she said her daughter’s school had started just a day after Labor Day, which she found rather inconsiderate, and as a result, she plans to voice her concerns about this to her daughter’s school administration.

She jokingly commented that it was impolite. She began work post-Labor Day, which caught her off guard because she wasn’t ready. It’s been an incredibly hectic period for her.

Indeed, the “Black Widow” actress has found herself quite busy overseeing the production of her latest movie, a project featuring venerable actress June Squibb, aged 95, alongside actual Holocaust survivors as they relive their experiences on screen.

Scarlett fondly reminisced about her time on set, saying, “I have a multitude of delightful memories from this production. I made this film alongside my producing partner, Jonathan, as well as our other associate, Keenan. Off-camera, we shared countless laughs.

Together with the enjoyable moments spent on set, the most fulfilling aspect was producing a movie that evoked strong emotions.

Scarlett pointed out that the acting in this project is incredibly intense and emotional. To keep from getting too serious, we often found ourselves laughing uncontrollably instead.

 She added, “Just being with my friends and making this movie every day was wonderful and fun.”

Although she hasn’t announced whether her children will watch “Eleanor the Great” yet, she has hinted at which films she’s eager for them to enjoy, specifically mentioning “Jurassic World: Rebirth”.

She shared with The Rundown host Erin Lim Rhodes at TopMob News in June that among Jurassic Park fans, this is considered the scariest movie. However, she mentioned that she’d allow her daughter to watch it as well.

She added, “It remains suitable for the family.” However, you need to peek at it cautiously, like glancing through a gap in your hands.

One reason she decided to be part of the dinosaur film, where she acted with actors like Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali among others, was to ensure an unforgettable cinema experience for her children.

When Scarlett watched the first Jurassic Park movie, she was 10 years old in the cinema. The film’s jump scares, humor, and terrifying moments made a lasting impression on her, which she recalled with a laugh. She added that one of the reasons Jurassic Park is so fantastic is because it’s exciting in every way-visually as well as emotionally.
