Scarlett Johansson remains a major Hollywood star, and her husband, Colin Jost, will be back next month to co-host the Weekend Update segment on Saturday Night Live when Season 51 begins. Johansson is eager to join the fun too, and has a great idea: she wants to co-host alongside someone, just like Jost does with Michael Che.
Johansson has been making the press rounds for her directorial debut, Eleanor the Great, which stars June Squibb and is now playing on the 2025 movies schedule While the two of them were being interviewed by Entertainment Tonight, it was brought up how Johansson had once joked about hosting Weekend Update. She’s still game for that, but only if Squibb is by her side. Watch the exchange for yourself:

It would be great to see Scarlett Johansson and June Squibb co-host the Weekend Update segment on Saturday Night Live. However, there are a couple of challenges. Squibb will be 96 years old in November, and staying up late for the show-which airs from 11:30 pm to 1:00 am Eastern Time-could be difficult. Johansson believes a quick espresso at 10 p.m. would easily solve that problem.

The writers at Saturday Night Live enjoy collaborating with Colin Jost and Michael Che, but one of them recently shared that the most challenging aspect of working with them is… well, it’s pretty funny!
What’s It Like Being Directed By Scarlett Johansson? June Squibb Shares An Honest Take
Excitingly, June Squibb is preparing to star as Marjorie in the Broadway play *Marjorie Prime*. Previews start at the Helen Hayes Theater on November 20th, with the official opening night on December 8th. Performing on a Saturday and then appearing on *Saturday Night Live* would be difficult, but if it’s possible, Squibb is enthusiastic about the chance to work with Scarlett Johansson again on Weekend Update.
Scarlett Johansson’s recent appearances on *Saturday Night Live* have created a fun connection with the “Weekend Update” segment. Last December, a joke swap led to Colin Jost reading some surprising jokes about Johansson while she was in the audience, and she visibly reacted. She later returned in May to playfully make Michael Che apologize to her as part of another joke swap. While she’s always seemed to enjoy the playful moments, it’s understandable why she’d be interested in co-hosting “Weekend Update” with June Squibb.
I’m so excited about Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut, *Eleanor the Great*! It looks fantastic and has a really impressive cast, including Erin Kellyman, Jessica Hecht, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Rita Zohar. I recently saw her in *Jurassic World Rebirth*, which was great, and I heard it’s coming to Peacock soon. That’s where I’ll also be able to binge-watch all of *Saturday Night Live*, which is a huge bonus!
