School Girl JRPG Series Blue Reflection Getting Massive PS5 Overhaul, Including Mobile Game Remake

The charming school-themed JRPG series Blue Reflection is receiving a major upgrade for the PlayStation 5 with the release of Blue Reflection Quartet, a compilation that includes all the games.

This collection includes enhanced versions of the two main PlayStation 4 games, plus a port to console of Blue Reflection Sun, a spin-off previously only available on mobile and PC. Please note that Blue Reflection Sun‘s original servers were taken offline in 2024.

The game will include scenes from the Blue Reflection Ray anime, recreated with the game’s 3D characters. New prologue and epilogue sequences will be added to connect the story between different parts of the game.

Here’s a look at all four games included in the collection, based on information from the game’s PlayStation Store page.

Blue Reflection

This game puts you in the role of a former ballerina who was injured, and now uses magic to connect with people and protect the world from a growing danger. The game has been visually enhanced with updated textures and effects like realistic water, making the world more immersive. It also includes convenient features like autosave, creating a smoother and more enjoyable gameplay experience.

Blue Reflection: Ray

This anime follows magical beings called Reflectors who battle each other because of their different viewpoints and feelings.

This game retells the story in a shorter format, featuring 3D character models. You’ll play as Hiori and Ruka as they journey through the Common, revisiting their memories while heading towards a confrontation with a girl who wants to rebuild the world. The game also includes new stories that add to the anime’s plot, along with a prologue and epilogue that tie it all together with the rest of the series.

Blue Reflection: Sun

This mobile game follows a group of girls navigating a world on the brink of collapse, as they strive to maintain hope for what’s to come.

The story of SUN has been adapted into a console game, built using the gameplay mechanics of BLUE REFLECTION: Second Light. This new version recreates the exciting battles from the original and includes 24 additional character-focused scenes. The game also features a prologue and epilogue that tie it into the broader series storyline.

Blue Reflection: Second Light

This game follows a group of girls who wake up with no memories in a mysterious world. As they explore, they’ll need to uncover their pasts and learn the secrets of their surroundings.

Originally released in October 2021 as part of the BLUE REFLECTION project, BLUE REFLECTION Quartet now includes eight playable characters from RAY and SUN. These characters also appear in Photo Mode alongside Yuzuki and Lime. To improve gameplay, we’ve added features like faster battles, quicker movement, and the ability to speed through events, making this the best BLUE REFLECTION experience yet.

The digital version of the bundle will be released on July 30th in Western regions. In Japan, several physical editions will also be available, including a special collector’s box priced at ¥24,200 (approximately $151).
