The series continues to delve deeper into the eerie supernatural world of Split River High. After revealing that Janet possessed Maddie in Season 2, Season 3 has upped the ante with a shocking twist. In Episode 5, ‘Raiders of the Last Scar,’ hospital ghost Kyle discovered someone had stolen his body. Now, Episode 6, ‘Children of the Scorned,’ has unveiled the culprit: Alfred Van Heidt.
In School Spirits, Van Heidt has quickly become a villain after Maddie and her friends discovered his role in the tragic drowning of Finnish children in 1912. Now that he’s returned and causing trouble again, viewers are eager to see what he’ll do next. Many fans are also theorizing about how he’s connected to Simone and her scheme to demolish the high school, which would permanently trap the ghosts inside.
Dr. Hunter-Price Could Be a Fellow Body Snatcher
Throughout School Spirits, possession has been a major challenge, but Van Heidt takes it to an extreme, seemingly having taken over many bodies – and ruined those people’s lives – for over a hundred years. This makes us wonder if other ghosts might also be secretly taking over people’s bodies. Considering what we’ve learned about her, Dr. Hunter-Price seems like a likely suspect.
While Deborah hasn’t openly admitted she’s aware of the ghostly activity at Split River High in School Spirits, several clues suggest she is. She’s one of the few people who can move freely around the school, and Nicole found out Deborah has installed security cameras in areas where students died. Deborah also cryptically warns Principal Hartman about something hidden beneath the school, hinting she knows about the old Finnish church, and it seems Van Heidt is supporting her plans to demolish it.
If Deborah knows what’s going on, it would explain things if she were also a ghost inhabiting another person. The show, School Spirits, hasn’t revealed why she’s so determined to tear down the school, other than the possibility of making money by building something new in its place. Perhaps she’s a spirit herself, with a personal reason—like a grudge against someone at Split River High—to want it destroyed, but that’s just one possibility.
Alfred Van Heidt Might Be the True Big Bad of School Spirits
Many viewers initially thought Dr. Deborah Hunter-Price was the main villain, but Van Heidt actually seems more dangerous. If Van Heidt is the true villain, he might have intentionally given Deborah information about the ghost world at Split River High to use her for his own plans. This would mean Deborah is more of a distraction, leading viewers to underestimate Van Heidt until he makes his move.
Some fans think Van Heidt and Deborah might be more closely related than it seems. A Reddit user noticed that the name “Alfred Van Heidt” can be rearranged to spell “devil and father,” leading to theories they could be family. This connection could explain how Deborah knows about ghosts and why she wants to destroy the school – perhaps she’s trying to protect her relatives.
Many mysteries still surround Deborah Hunter-Price, and viewers are eager to learn more as Season 3 nears its end. The next two episodes promise big revelations, but with shows like this, answers often lead to even more questions. Hopefully, if that happens, School Spirits will be renewed for a fourth season, bringing Deborah back to cause trouble at Split River High.
