A short new trailer clip for the upcoming movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, shows a quick look at the fight between Tom Holland as Spider-Man and Michael Mando as the Scorpion. This confrontation was hinted at after the credits of the 2017 film, Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Scorpion vs. Spider-Man teased in Brand New Day snippet
A short clip from the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer has been released. It features Scorpion attacking Spider-Man with his tail while Spider-Man is swinging, and the fight happens at night.
Mac Gargan, who later becomes the Scorpion, first appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming. He was an associate of Adrian Toomes (the Vulture) and interested in buying the alien weapons Toomes had collected. Spider-Man encountered him on the Staten Island Ferry while Gargan was attempting to buy weapons from Herman Schultz (the Shocker), one of Toomes’ crew members. During the fight between Spider-Man and Vulture, Gargan was knocked off the ferry, but the FBI rescued and arrested him.
After Toomes was imprisoned following his battle with Spider-Man, Gargan visited him seeking revenge. He asked Toomes if he knew Spider-Man’s secret identity, mentioning rumors and hinting at others who also wanted to harm the hero. Toomes, who had actually discovered Peter Parker’s identity but decided not to reveal it, simply told Gargan that if he did know who Spider-Man was, Gargan would already be dead.
The new Spider-Man movie, “Brand New Day,” kicks off Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and arrives in theaters on July 31st. Taking place four years after the events of “No Way Home,” the film follows Spider-Man as he investigates a string of crimes, forcing him to confront the repercussions of his previous choices.
Destin Daniel Cretton directed the movie. The cast includes Tom Holland, Michael Mando, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, and Marvin Jones III.
