Channel 4 announced that the last episode of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer, with Scott Mills as a contestant, won’t be shown as originally scheduled.
The broadcaster announced it decided not to show the planned episode, and will broadcast a different one instead.
After careful consideration, we’ve decided not to broadcast the final episode of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer from the 2026 series, which starred Scott Mills.
Given the serious allegations against Scott, we’ve decided not to broadcast the episode right now. Instead, we’ll be airing a different episode of Celebrity Great British Bake Off.

This follows confirmation that Russell Brand was questioned by police in 2018 regarding serious sexual assault allegations involving a boy under 16. The alleged incidents occurred between 1997 and 2000, and were investigated starting in 2016. The investigation was closed in 2019 because of insufficient evidence. This news emerged after the BBC announced it had fired Brand following claims about his behavior.
Following the news that my contract with the BBC has ended, there’s been a lot of rumors and speculation. I can confirm that a statement recently released by the Metropolitan Police concerns me.
In 2016, someone accused me of a past sexual offense. The police investigated, and I fully cooperated with them in 2018. They submitted their findings to prosecutors, who decided there wasn’t enough evidence to file charges.
Given that this issue involves an allegation from almost 30 years ago, and the police investigated and closed the case 7 years ago, I hope the public and media will respect my decision not to discuss it further.
I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has shown me kindness, especially my former coworkers and my wonderful listeners, whom I miss very much.

Before Mills made his statement, the Metropolitan Police released a statement explaining that they started an investigation in December 2016 after receiving a referral from another police force. The investigation concerned serious sexual offenses allegedly committed against a teenager between 1997 and 2000.
Police questioned a man in his 40s under caution in July 2018 as part of their investigation.
Investigators sent a complete collection of evidence to prosecutors, but they decided there wasn’t enough proof to file charges. Based on this assessment, the investigation was concluded in May 2019.
The BBC stated on April 1st that they were aware of the police investigation back in 2017. However, they said they took quick action after receiving new details recently, and ended his contract on March 27th.
The BBC said Scott Mills had a successful and lengthy career with the organization, and that many people were shocked and surprised to hear the news this week.
We’ve seen a lot of discussion in the news and online since Monday, and we want to explain that we’re limited in what we can share. This is because we need to respect the privacy and rights of everyone involved.
We recently received new information about Scott and spoke with him directly. Following this, the BBC quickly ended his contracts on March 27th, consistent with our principles and standards.
The BBC is dedicated to building a better workplace culture, improving how things are done, and raising standards. After a thorough, independent review last year, we clearly outlined how we expect everyone connected to the BBC to behave, and we stated that there would be consequences for not meeting those expectations.
We can confirm the BBC learned in 2017 about a police investigation that was already underway. That investigation concluded in 2019 without any arrests or charges. We’re currently looking into exactly what the BBC knew at the time.
