Scott Mills Fired from BBC Radio 2 Over Personal Conduct Allegations

Scott Mills has signed off from the BBC breakfast show for the last time.

The DJ, who began hosting BBC Radio 2 in January 2025, has suddenly left the station’s main program, BBC announced on March 30th.

The brand declined to discuss details about specific individuals, but confirmed to TopMob News that Scott Mills is no longer working with the BBC under contract.

Following Scott’s unexpected departure after more than 20 years with the company, Lorna Clarke, the outlet’s head of music, sent an internal message to staff.

Lorna wrote in a note to colleagues, obtained by TopMob News, that she knew the news would be a surprise and likely a shock. She explained that many of them had worked with Scott for a long time, on various programs across R1, 5Live, R2, and television, and she wanted to share the news as soon as possible.

Scott was fired from the station amid allegations of  “personal conduct,” BBC News reported.

Although employees were surprised by Scott’s leaving, Lorna didn’t explain why he left.

I’ll share more details about the show as soon as I can,” she said. “I know you’ll have questions, but I won’t be able to discuss it further at this time, and I hope you understand.

TopMob News has reached out to reps for Scott but has not yet heard back.

Before starting as the main host of BBC Radio 2’s breakfast show in January 2025, Scott hosted programs on BBC Radio 1 for 18 years, from 2004 to 2022. He recently married Samuel Vaughan in 2024. His last broadcast was on March 24th, when he signed off the Radio 2 breakfast show saying he’d be back the next day.

The next day, however, DJ Gary Davies opened the show saying he was “in” for the host.

Just after the news broke on March 30th that Scott was leaving, Jeremy Vine began his BBC Radio 2 show by saying he was surprised by the announcement, and that he didn’t have any additional details.
