Scrubs Revival Casts Zach Braff and These 2 O.G. Costars

The original doctors are scrubbing back in. 

According to several sources, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke will be coming back for the new season of “Scrubs,” playing their original characters, Christopher Turk and Elliot Reid. They’ll be joining Zach Braff, who was already confirmed to return as J.D. in this revival.

The show will be broadcast on ABC in the 2025-2026 television season, alongside comedies like “Abbott Elementary” and “Shifting Gears”.

Bill Lawrence, the brain behind the original series, is particularly thrilled about the prospect of reuniting the original cast members.

He expressed to Variety on July 10 that “Scrubs” holds tremendous significance for him. He’s thrilled about the opportunity to reunite the team once more.

Fifteen years after the final episode of the initial series (which had aired for nine seasons), we’re finally returning to Sacred Heart Hospital. It’s been a long-awaited comeback.

Lawrence remarked during the 2022 ATX Festival session with the series’ cast members, “We’re going ahead because we’re fortunate that people are interested.” He added, “From top to bottom, we genuinely enjoy being together. If there’s an opportunity to collaborate with individuals you’d want to socialize with anyway, seize it… It’s valuable for me to see Neil in that jumpsuit once more.

Additionally, Donald mentioned his desire for a reunion during the discussion, but felt it might not be feasible at the moment. He playfully suggested that the creator is too occupied and “will never be free again.

As a lifestyle expert, I find myself echoing a sentiment many of us share: we yearn for the camaraderie of collaborative projects once more. However, coordinating schedules and commitments across multiple individuals proves quite challenging. A full season of a show isn’t feasible at this time – perhaps a feature film or similar short-term venture would be more appropriate, allowing us to dedicate a few months to it while we each continue with our ongoing endeavors.
