Scrubs Season 2’s Release Window Officially Confirmed, And It’s Much Sooner Than Fans Expected

A new season of Scrubs – Season 11, or Season 2 of the revival – is happening! ABC is moving quickly to capitalize on the recent surge in popularity. The show’s return was a major TV moment, and the creators successfully balanced honoring the original series that fans loved with showing how the characters – and the audience – have grown and changed over time.

The Scrubs revival did well, but there’s still potential to make it even better. Fans would love to see more of the show’s quirky characters and storylines that were avoided in Season 10. We’ll have to wait and see what’s next for Sacred Hearts Hospital and its staff, but we now know when Season 2 will be released!

Scrubs Season 2 Will Premiere In Fall 2026

ABC has announced that Season 2 of Scrubs will return as part of its fall 2026 lineup. During this week’s network presentations, ABC revealed Scrubs will air on Wednesdays at 8 pm Eastern and Pacific time. While a specific premiere date hasn’t been set, it shouldn’t be long before one is announced.

The revival of Scrubs debuted on February 25, 2026, and fans generally expected the next season to arrive around the same time in February 2027. This quick turnaround between seasons shows how confident ABC is in Scrubs, especially since many other shows are waiting a year or even longer to release new episodes.

Ari Goldman, a senior executive at ABC, confidently announced a major wave of show renewals, including Scrubs. He stated that ABC is expanding its scripted programming and, for the first time ever, has renewed every single one of its scripted series. According to Goldman, these renewals are happening because all the shows are doing well in terms of viewership.

ABC has announced its fall lineup, renewing nine shows for another season. These include returning favorites like Grey’s Anatomy (season 23), Abbott Elementary (season 6), The Rookie (season 9), Will Trent (season 5), 9-1-1 (season 10), 9-1-1: Nashville (season 2), Scrubs (season 2), R.J. Decker (season 2), and Shifting Gears (season 3). The popular new series High Potential will return mid-season in 2027.

The recent Scrubs revival checked in with the familiar characters a decade after the show’s eighth season. J.D. Dorian, played by Zach Braff, was going through a divorce from Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke) and practicing medicine on his own. The season started with a surprise: J.D. was named the new Chief of Medicine at Sacred Heart by Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley). Throughout the season, J.D. struggled to adapt to his new leadership role, mend relationships with friends like Turk (Donald Faison) and Carla (Judy Reyes), and figure out single life and dating, all while trying to co-parent with Elliot.

The first season of Scrubs ended with some big developments for Season 2: Dr. Cox is facing health problems, and J.D.’s biggest rival is back to cause trouble at the hospital. Since then, fans have been excited to hear that Season 2 will feature the return of other characters from the show’s early seasons.

You can watch Scrubs on Hulu and Disney+. The second season will be available in Fall 2026. We’d also love to know: if you were stranded on a desert island, which TV characters would you bring with you?
