Sean Bean has returned to the fantasy genre, and this time his series won’t be going away quietly.
MGM+ has announced that Robin Hood will be back for a second season, following a successful debut on their streaming service. The show, which offers a fresh take on the classic tale, stars Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham, alongside Jack Patten as Robin Hood and Lauren McQueen as Marian. Originally released in November 2025, the Lionsgate Television series is now confirmed to return.
John Glenn (showrunner), Jonathan English (producer-director), and Todd Lieberman (executive producer from Hidden Pictures) are producing a second season with 10 new episodes. According to MGM+, this season of Robin Hood will go beyond the familiar settings of Sherwood Forest and Nottingham, venturing into the dangerous political landscapes of England, France, and Rome. The story will evolve from a simple outlaw rebellion into a fight for the future of the kingdom.
With the Angevin empire on the verge of collapse, Rob and Marian find themselves entangled in royal affairs. They must navigate the treacherous world of politics, wealth, and deception – tools of Norman rule – to protect the Saxons and fight for their future. Their struggle for survival soon evolves into a deeper confrontation with the nature of power itself. Production for the second season is set to begin this summer.
