Sebastian Stan looks like a different man. 

The 43-year-old actor, famous for his long dark hair, shaved his head for his latest movie, Fjord. The film is directed by Cristian Mungiu and will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, running from May 12th to 23rd.

The movie poster features Stan smiling with his shaved head and beard, standing alongside his co-star, Renate Reinsve. They portray a married couple and are pictured with the five actors who play their children.

The movie follows a couple – one Romanian, one Norwegian – who relocate with their family to the wife’s isolated hometown in Norway. Their parenting choices quickly draw attention and judgment. Stan plays Mihai, the husband, and Reinsve plays his wife, Lisbet.

The Marvel actor first showed off his shaved head in April 2025, a stark contrast to the long hair of his Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier character. This was at the Thunderbolts premiere in Los Angeles, shortly after he finished filming Fjord.

Stan explained to TMZ that he had a work commitment, which is why he did what he did. He said it was necessary and he took care of it.

He cheekily added, “It wasn’t a midlife crisis or anything. Not yet.”

The actor is known for dramatically changing his appearance for roles, and he was almost unrecognizable in the 2024 film, A Different Man. This was his first time working with Renate Reinsve, and required him to wear extensive prosthetics to convincingly portray the physical effects of neurofibromatosis. This rare genetic condition, which his co-star Adam Pearson actually lives with, causes tumors to develop on the nervous system.

To portray Tommy Lee in the 2022 series Pam & Tommy, Stan lost weight, and then he gained it back to play Donald Trump in The Apprentice in 2024. He discussed his preparation for the role of the president in an October 2024 interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Stan shared that he once called a nutritionist he’d worked with previously and asked how to make his face look bloated quickly. The nutritionist surprisingly advised him to eat ramen with lots of soy sauce, explaining that the salt would cause facial bloating.
