SEC Chair Gary Gensler to step down

The President is empowered to appoint a Chair for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), but it’s important to note that they don’t have the ability to compel a Commissioner to resign from the agency altogether, unlike what Gensler has chosen to do in January.
