Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Chase McWhorter Addresses DUI Arrest

Chase McWhorter is clearing the air about his past.

Jake Hirschi, known from the show Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and formerly married to Miranda McWhorter (2017-2024), has publicly addressed his arrest in July. Court documents obtained by Us Weekly confirm he was arrested for driving under the influence and possession of cocaine.

Chase began a TikTok video on December 4th by directly addressing recent reports. He explained he wasn’t using a public relations team and would be speaking honestly about the situation. He confirmed that the reports detailing an incident that occurred on July 4th were accurate.

He explained that he was stopped for driving under the influence, admitting he had taken substances and then driven. He called it a very poor, selfish, and dangerous choice, and expressed gratitude to the officer for keeping the roads safe, as the situation could have been much more serious.

The 30-year-old, who shares 6-year-old Brooks and 4-year-old Cohen with Miranda, said the incident occurred while he was driving home after an argument at a friend’s pool party.

He admitted he should have taken an Uber, but he chose to drive instead – a decision he now realizes is incredibly dangerous, contributing to accidents that happen daily. He acknowledged how serious that mistake was, and how embarrassing it was to be pulled over and arrested. He said it looked really bad for him.

Chase explained he was struggling with personal issues and emphasized that his arrest wasn’t due to his upbringing or his parents. He also admitted to Miranda that he had disappointed her before, and this incident was just the latest instance.

He admitted he’d let Miranda down repeatedly, both when they were partners and now as they co-parent. He added, simply, “That’s really tough.”

The TikTok creator shared that he’s consulting with a lawyer. He also mentioned an upcoming beer ad – which was filmed before his DUI arrest – to assure his followers he wasn’t trying to downplay the seriousness of the situation.

I deeply regret my decision and am truly sorry for the way it appeared, especially to anyone who was affected that day. I understand that choices like mine can have tragic consequences, and I take full responsibility. I’m dealing with the repercussions of my actions, both personally and legally.

I really appreciate him addressing everything directly. He finished his video by saying he wanted us to hear it from him personally, that something did happen, but he promised it won’t happen again, and he sincerely apologized. It means a lot to me that he took responsibility and spoke to us directly about it.
