On July 12th, the granddaughter of the late actress, Camille Gottlieb, paid homage to her iconic “Rear Window” appearance at the Monaco Red Cross Gala by donning a modernized rendition of the tulle dress initially designed by the esteemed costume designer, Edith Head.

Crafted by Italian designer Elisabetta Franchi, the latest gown showcases an off-shoulder black bodice and voluminous white skirt, similar to its design. However, this contemporary piece innovatively incorporates gemstones arranged in a vine pattern along the waistline, reminiscent of the ivy embroidery on Kelly’s screen outfit.

The young woman accessorized her ensemble with a pair of diamond earrings and a pendant necklace from Cartier, the very jeweler who designed Princess Grace Kelly’s engagement ring from Prince Rainier III of Monaco.

Acknowledging that Franchi realized her vision, Gottlieb posted on Instagram on July 13, “I honored my grandmother with this stunning gown.

Gottlieb was joined by her older brother Louis Ducruet and his wife Marie Ducruet at the event.

The Red Cross of Monaco holds a special place in our family’s heart, as Rainier, whom she married in 1956 during her active Hollywood years, served as its president from 1949 until 1958.

After retiring from acting, Kelly assumed the role previously held by someone else, serving as the President of the Red Cross of Monaco until 1982, when she tragically passed away due to injuries from a car accident.

The 52-year-old experienced a stroke while driving with her and Rainier’s youngest daughter, Camille’s mother (Princess Stéphanie of Monaco), from their residence in Mont Agel. This unfortunate incident led the car to fall off a cliff due to the stroke.

After Kelly’s passing, Rainier did not get married again. He expired in 2005 at the age of 81, and his ashes were interred beside the grave of the Academy Award recipient in Monaco.
