Julia Roberts booked her ticket to paradise the minute she became a mom.
In a 2014 interview with the Wall Street Journal, the Oscar-winning actress explained that she felt professionally fulfilled when her twins, Phinnaeus and Hazel, were born in 2004. She and her husband, Danny Moder, then decided she wanted to focus on family life. She happily prioritized being home with her children, to the point where they weren’t even aware she worked for a long time.
Our family felt complete when Henry joined us in 2007. It’s definitely been a little quieter around the house since he went off to college – my husband Chris and I have a lot more space now, which is a bit bittersweet, honestly. But being a mom is the most fulfilling thing I’ve ever done, and I cherish every moment of it.
“I know every parent says this, but I really do think my kids are amazing,” Roberts shared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in October. “I genuinely enjoy being around them and spending time with them.”
Meeting her future husband, a cinematographer, on the set of her 2001 movie The Mexican was a turning point for the actress. They married on July 4, 2002.

In a 2017 interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, she explained that her happiness and fulfillment come from her partner. She said that everything positive in her life stems from their relationship.
Her strong relationships with Finn, Hazel, and Henry are central to her life. While they didn’t immediately realize their mother was a world-famous figure, they eventually found out.
She remembered her children asking, ‘Are you famous?’ in 2018, when speaking with Oprah Winfrey. She responded that many people may have seen the movie she was in or recognized her. About an hour later, they asked, ‘Are you more famous than Taylor Swift?’
Although Roberts was fortunate enough to be able to spend a lot of time at home with her children thanks to her successful career, she also wanted them to witness her professional life and learn from it.

In the early years, my kids barely noticed when their dad and I went to work—it felt like I was just gone during naptime. But as they’ve gotten older, especially with my daughter, I feel it’s important to show them that I have creative passions and that work can be fulfilling for me, as told to the New York Times Magazine in 2022.
In a 2022 interview on CBS Sunday Morning, she shared that her greatest joy comes from her family life. She said, “The best part of my life is the one I’ve built with my husband and children – coming home to them at the end of the day is the most rewarding feeling.”
