Sega is offering a free game from 2015, but only for a limited time and to those with an Amazon Prime subscription. You’ll need Prime Gaming to get a free code, and the game is available exclusively on PC through the Epic Games Store. Unfortunately, this means console players won’t be able to get the game, and it isn’t available for those platforms anyway.
Starting today, Amazon Prime members can get Total War: Attila for free through the Epic Games Store. You need an Amazon Prime subscription to claim the game, but you don’t need to stay subscribed to keep it. You could even sign up for Prime, grab this game along with the 20 other free PC games currently offered, and then cancel your subscription. Of course, if you subscribe to Prime specifically for the included games, they aren’t truly free. However, since most of Amazon’s 240 million Prime subscribers use the service for other reasons, this is essentially a bonus free game.
If you haven’t heard of it, Total War: Attila is a strategy game made by Creative Assembly and published by Sega. It came out on February 17, 2015, and is the ninth game in the Total War series. While it’s not the strongest title in the series, it’s certainly not the weakest—it falls somewhere in the middle, as reflected by its Metacritic score of 80.
Since Total War: Attila came out, seven more Total War games have been released, with varying degrees of success. While newer options are available, this game is especially appealing if you’re fascinated by the Late Antiquity period – specifically, the events of the Migration Period between 300 and 800 AD.
This Sega strategy game usually costs $44.99 on PC, making this a significant discount. However, the deal doesn’t include any of the game’s downloadable content. There’s a lot of DLC available – eight different releases in total – but most of it isn’t essential, except for the Age of Charlemagne and The Last Roman campaign packs.
