Okay, so this is pretty cool. A game that originally came out way back on the PS3 and PS4 – like, 11 years ago – just got re-released for the PS5, and people are loving it. Seriously, it’s got a perfect score on the PlayStation Store! As of right now, it’s sitting at 4.86 out of 5 stars after almost 1,000 reviews. That translates to a 97 on Metacritic, which is insane for a re-release. I might have to check this one out!
Originally released for the PS3 and PS4 in 2015, Yakuza 0 has received a new “definitive edition” on the PS5 more than a decade later. This version, called Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, includes extra cutscenes never seen before, plus a brand new co-op multiplayer mode called Red Light Raid.
An Action Game That Still Holds Up
Originally released in Japan in 2015 for PlayStation 3 and 4, Yakuza 0 came to Western audiences on PlayStation 4 in 2017. It was later made available on PC in 2018 and Xbox One in 2020. Last year, a Director’s Cut version launched on Nintendo Switch, and now this updated version is available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
The original game received a score of 85 on Metacritic when it first came out, and player reviews on the PlayStation Store for the PS5 version are even better. This game is the sixth main title in the series, but it actually tells a story that happens before the first game, making it a good place to start if you’re new to the series.
PS5 Pro Enhanced, But Not Cheap
Players wanting to experience this PS3 and PS4 game on PS5 will need to pay $49.99. That’s a significant cost for a game that originally came out 11 years ago, especially since this version isn’t a remastered or rebuilt version – it just includes new content. However, PS5 Pro owners will benefit from special enhancements designed specifically for that console.
