A well-received game called Arcade Paradise already exists, but SEGA has still decided to trademark the name.
The application for the title was made public on September 19th, leading fans to speculate about a possible retro collection of the publisher’s classic arcade games.
This might have something to do with the game from Nosebleed Interactive – the one that started as a laundry simulator and became a collection of minigames. However, Wired Productions already released a physical copy of that game in Japan, printed by Soft Source.
As you might remember, SEGA removed many of its older games from online stores last year, leading people to believe they were planning a new way to release these classic titles.
Hamster Corporation, a Japanese game developer, has been very successful lately by re-releasing classic Namco arcade games like Ridge Racer as part of their Arcade Archives series.
M2 also brought over a few beloved SEGA arcade games to the Nintendo Switch, and Virtua Racing was a standout title.
The publisher is expected to reveal four new games at this week’s Tokyo Game Show, and Yakuza Kiwami 3 is probably one of them. We’re also wondering if they’ll showcase Arcade Paradise.
The creators of the Yakuza series, RGG Studio, will be hosting a livestream on Wednesday, September 24th at 12 PM Japan Standard Time, just before the Tokyo Game Show begins.
The team behind the Yakuza games has successfully recreated a few of SEGA’s old arcade titles within the series, leading many to speculate whether they might eventually release a complete, dedicated arcade game collection.
All will hopefully be revealed later this week.
