Selena Gomezis killing ‘em with kindness and honesty.
Selena Gomez, founder of Rare Beauty, recently responded to questions about a change in her voice after fans pointed it out.
Selena, 33, addressed a recurring question during an Instagram Live session on December 16th. She admitted she didn’t have a good explanation, saying, ‘Things happen.’ She explained that she occasionally experiences internal swelling in her throat, and that’s simply what it is.
Selena Gomez has often spoken about how her lupus and bipolar disorder medications have impacted her health. She appreciates the support she receives from her fans and is glad they care about her well-being.
“I’m glad you’re being real with me on the Live,” she continued in the session. “I appreciate it.”
Selena Gomez, who recently married Benny Blanco in the fall, has been able to laugh about her fans’ worries regarding her health. Just before publicly sharing her story, she had an open conversation about her skin condition.
Someone jokingly asked me how I shave my mustache, which made me laugh! It’s actually melasma, a skin condition,” she explained in a video on Instagram. “I manage it with treatment, but it’s definitely still there.”

I completely get why people were commenting on it! Selena explained that she has melasma, which causes these little patches of discoloration on your skin. It can look a bit like a shadow, and for her, it’s definitely from being out in the sun. It’s so common, and she just totally understood the questions!
In a video, she pointed to a patch of discoloration and a pimple on her upper lip, explaining that it was melasma caused by sun exposure. She emphasized the importance of wearing sunscreen to protect against it.
