Mandy Teefey is pushing back.
Following accusations made by employees that Selena Gomez’s mother used drugs at her Wondermind office, as reported in a critical expose by Cut concerning the mental health-focused media company, she strongly refuted these claims.
Mandy expressed in a recent article on September 3rd that she founded Wondermind with the intention of assisting individuals struggling with mental illness. It’s unfortunate, she said, that some dissatisfied employees with personal grievances have spread falsehoods about her and twisted the truth beyond recognition. Even more disheartening is the media’s willingness to give credence to these untruths.
The 49-year-old co-founder of the start-up, who established the company alongside Selena for producing mental health content via a website, podcasts, TV shows, and movies, allegedly snorted a suspected Ritalin line within her office, as stated in the report.
Simultaneously, other staff members claimed that in addition to Mandy receiving regular vitamin IV infusions from a changing group of nurses, one of these nurses also provided her with liquid Benadryl. While this medication is typically given for serious allergic responses, it can also be used as a sedative and to induce hallucinations.
According to the article, her colleagues asserted that despite claiming she required injections for “allergies and post-COVID/double pneumonia symptoms from late 2021,” they noticed she frequently spoke sluggishly and appeared drowsy following these incidents.
In addition to refuting the general drug accusations, Mandy, who co-founded the company with Daniella Pierson as co-CEO and Selena as chief impact officer in 2022, clarified that snorting Ritalin, a medication for ADHD, was “definitely not” accurate.
During the summer of 2023, it was reported by the outlet that Selena frequently covered employee salaries and offered financial aid when the non-profit encountered difficulties in obtaining funding.
As your go-to guide on all things lifestyle, I’ve attempted to reach out to Mandy, Selena, and the team at Wondermind for their insights, but I haven’t received a response just yet. Stay tuned for updates!

In May, when worries arose about Wondermind allegedly not compensating its staff appropriately, the company communicated to Forbes that they had resolved or addressed the issue.
Similar to numerous other startups, Wondermind has been navigating its share of challenges as it grows. In the near future, we are moving forward into a new phase for Wondermind, one that will see us persistently pursuing our mission in promoting mental wellness, which benefits hundreds of thousands of individuals.
Despite ongoing concerns, the company was built with good intentions.
In a 2022 press statement, I, as a lifestyle advocate, expressed that each individual embarks on their unique mental health voyage. Regardless of whether we overlook it, exaggerate it, or conceal it, this expedition remains undeniably authentic and real.
She noted that Wondermind is expanding the broader discussion about mental health, a topic that has become increasingly relevant for many throughout the pandemic.
