Selena Gomez’s Mom Mandy Teefey Reacts to Alleged Wedding Snub

Selena Gomez‘s family has more than just that same old love.

Her mother, Mandy Teefey, was thrilled when the singer married Benny Blanco on September 27th in Santa Barbara, California.

She shared on Instagram on September 28th how wonderful it was to celebrate a couple she adores. She described the evening as beautiful and perfect, saying it was truly flawless.

Mandy, age 49, was particularly moved by who Selena chose to walk her down the aisle at the wedding. It wasn’t Selena’s father, Ricardo Gomez, or her stepfather, Brian Teefey, but instead her grandfather, David Cornett.

“It was beyond heartwarming,” Mandy wrote, “watching my father walk her down the aisle!!!”

Mandy addressed rumors that she was upset Selena hadn’t asked her to participate, calling the speculation “ludicrous!”

It was so heartwarming to see Mandy officially welcome Benny into the family! She described their connection as a “Sunday kind of love,” and honestly, it just feels so comfortable and right – like they were always meant to be. It really solidified for me that everything is wonderful between them.

Selena, 33, previously hinted that she wanted to honor her grandfather for one special reason.

In an April appearance on the *Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware* podcast, she shared that she wants to have a special dance with her father. She explained that her mom didn’t have a traditional walk down the aisle, opting instead to elope to Las Vegas and have a spontaneous celebration.

Selena mentioned her mom and Brian’s 2006 elopement, saying it was sweet, but she wished her grandfather had been able to witness the ceremony.

Selena has openly discussed the difficulties of being raised in a blended family. She shared with Ryan Seacrest that it was confusing for her when her teenage parents separated when she was just 5 years old.

Looking back, I used to struggle with a lot of things and, honestly, I even felt a bit resentful towards my mom. All I really wanted was a normal, happy family. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to realize she actually made all the right choices. It’s amazing how your perspective changes with time, and I’m so grateful for everything she did.

It was initially very difficult for me to get used to having a stepdad,” the former Disney Channel star shared.

She remembered being very young, only eight years old, and desperately wanting her family to be together. Then, she noticed how happy her mom seemed with Brian stepping into a fatherly role, and she finally felt like she had the family she’d always wished for.
