Selena Quintanilla’s loved ones are still dreaming of her.
After seeing the new exhibit at the Grammy Museum, Selena: From Texas to the World—including the famous, glittering dress she wore to the 1994 Grammy Awards—her husband, Chris Pérez, and her sister, Suzette Quintanilla, were flooded with memories from the past.
At the museum event on January 14th, Chris told TopMob News that seeing the outfits brought back memories. He specifically recalled the Grammy dress, explaining that he’d forgotten about it until that moment, when he remembered accidentally stepping on the crystals at the bottom of it during the actual awards night.
Chris pointed out that if you examine the dress’s train carefully, you can see where some of the crystals were rubbed off.
Suzette confirmed she’d seen it, saying, “I’m telling you the truth, there’s a small mark that looks exactly like your footprint.”
Suzette was thrilled to learn something new about her sister, calling it a “very cool” moment. She reciprocated by sharing a detail they discovered about the dress after it was moved from the Selena Museum in Corpus Christi, Texas.
She started telling a story about something she’d noticed. Apparently, when wearing a strapless dress, this person had cleverly connected the little support ribbons inside with a rubber band. This was a smart move because it let the dress stretch and move with her body.
After taking the dress off the mannequin, Suzette said, “The rubber band is still holding the straps together, exactly as she left them. We’re not touching it.”

She shared that she was incredibly proud to receive the Grammy, and seeing it displayed at the Grammy Museum felt like a perfect, meaningful moment.

Visiting the new exhibit at the Grammy Museum, open from January 15th to March 16th, brought back fond memories for Chris and Suzette. It reminded them of the night Selena won her first—and only—Grammy for Best Mexican-American Album, shortly before her tragic passing in 1995.
Chris recalled her being thrilled to win, but also remarkably composed in case she didn’t. The moment her name was announced, though, everything changed.
He smiled, and Suzette echoed the feeling, saying, “It was an amazing experience. It really hits you later, when you realize just how special it was.”

She shared how proud she was to have won the Grammy, and seeing it displayed at the Grammy Museum felt like a perfect, satisfying conclusion to her journey.
As a style enthusiast, I highly recommend checking out the Selena: From Texas to the World exhibit at the Grammy Museum! It’s a beautiful tribute, and it got me thinking about how incredible Selena’s fashion sense was throughout her all-too-short but impactful career. I’m sharing some of my favorite looks to celebrate her enduring style!
