It had been a while since Sam Raimi, the director behind Evil Dead, released a completely new movie, so fans are excited that his latest film, Send Help, feels like a return to his classic style.
The movie, featuring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, has all the hallmarks of the director’s unique style: fast-paced camera movements, dark humor, and lots of over-the-top, bloody violence.
Kate McAdams plays Linda Liddle, a woman constantly put down and denied a promotion. Her boss, Bradley (played by O’Brien), is a rude and undeserving leader who only got his position through family connections.
Bradley starts out in control of the relationship, but everything changes after a plane crash leaves them and another person stranded on a desert island, forcing them to rely on each other to survive.
Bradley is struggling to adapt to their new environment, but Linda, a big fan of the reality show Survivor, is surprisingly prepared. She quickly realizes her boss depends on her completely to get through this, and a humorous adventure unfolds.
She’s always had the ability, but our society never gave her the opportunity to show it. He’s always been inadequate, but people overlooked his flaws because of his powerful position.
What happens next – how does Linda use her new advantage with her boss? Keep reading for a full explanation of the ending of Send Help.

Send Help ending explained: What happens between Linda and Bradley?
Bradley first tries to set up camp on his own, but quickly realizes it’s not working. He understands his best chance of surviving – and being even remotely comfortable – is to accept Linda’s help and let her take charge.
Linda is thriving in her new position. She enjoys giving Bradley instructions and feels more confident and happy with each passing day. She also took the time to inform him about the island, specifically warning him to stay away from a particularly dangerous area on the far side.
Linda is having a wonderful time living like she’s on the show Survivor – she’s truly enjoying the experience! Because of this, when she spots a rescue boat, she intentionally doesn’t signal for help. She’s realized she prefers this exciting island life to her ordinary routine back home.
Bradley and Linda gradually start to connect and become closer. One evening, while sharing homemade fruit wine, they have a deep conversation where Linda reveals a painful secret: she was once married to an abusive man. She confesses that she allowed him to drive drunk, and he later died in a car accident as a result.
Initially, Bradley appears sympathetic to the woman’s story and offers to make her dinner. However, this is a deception – he secretly poisons her food with berries and then attempts to flee on a homemade raft, intending to leave her to perish.
Unfortunately, his plan went terribly wrong. He didn’t use enough berries to actually harm Linda, and his raft quickly fell apart in the rough water. Ironically, a very ill Linda ended up rescuing him, only to immediately throw up all over his face.
Following his failed betrayal, she decisively ends any pretense of cooperation. She incapacitates Bradley with octopus venom and delivers a brutal threat, compelling him to acknowledge her dominance and submit to her control.
Sadly, Linda’s peaceful new life is quickly disrupted. Bradley’s fiancée, Zuri (played by Edyll Ismail), has been searching for them since the accident and finally finds them on the island, arriving with a rescue boat and its captain.
Linda then takes a shockingly extreme step. Without Bradley knowing they’re coming, she tricks both Zuri and the captain into following her to a dangerous cliff, where she pushes them to their deaths. Later that night, a distraught Linda stays behind while Bradley goes out to hunt. He tragically discovers his fiancée’s body washed ashore on the beach.
When Bradley confronts Linda, she confesses to killing Zuri, and a violent fight erupts. True to director Sam Raimi’s style, the scene is filled with graphic violence, including Linda partially having her eye gouged out. She eventually gains the advantage and stabs Bradley in the side, causing him to flee.
Eager to find a way out, he ventures into the off-limits area of the island that Linda had warned him about, and finally understands why it was forbidden. He discovers they weren’t actually stranded in the wild – there’s a stunning, fully-equipped beach house hidden there, which Linda had secretly kept to herself.
Linda finds him and confesses she’s been hiding something, then surprisingly points a shotgun at him. Desperate, Bradley begs for his life, telling her he loves her and wants to spend the rest of his days with her on the island, but Linda doesn’t believe him.
Even though the gun wasn’t actually loaded, she attacked him with a golf club, causing severe injuries. He likely won’t survive.
The movie concludes with a glimpse into the future, showing Linda back on solid ground and living a lavish life. This is all thanks to the incredible popularity of her memoir detailing her experience as the sole survivor of the plane crash, which is now being made into a book.
Although she may have been involved in some killings, she’s managed to avoid consequences and completely reinvented herself. Ironically, that plane crash turned out to be a turning point for the better in her life!
Send Help is now showing in UK cinemas.
