Seth Rollins was initially set to appear in the movie “Captain America: Brave New World,” but his role has been removed from the final edit, which is slated for release on February 14. Despite this, Rollins, a former WWE champion, confirmed that he had been cast in the Marvel Studios film. However, after his main event match against CM Punk at the January 6 streaming premiere of “WWE Monday Night Raw” on Netflix, he stated there’s no sign of him in the upcoming installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Regarding Captain America 4, Rollins expressed, ‘I hope it fares well, but I’m not involved in that movie,'” said Rollins during an interview on the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast.
Is my Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) still in effect since I’m no longer part of the film? To set the record straight, any response I give would simply be my personal interpretation. The script underwent numerous revisions and reshoots, which resulted in a significant change or elimination of my role. In essence, I tried out for another role or perhaps a revised version of my original role, but they chose to go in a different direction with it.
Later on, Rollins added, “I was under the impression that there were many rewrites and reshoots taking place, and they seem confident they’ve created a final product that they’re satisfied with, hoping for its success. However, it will be a version of the film without Seth Rollins.
Photos taken secretly on a film set in Atlanta, Georgia last May revealed Rollins wearing a green and golden attire with long blonde hair. There have been whispers that Rollins might be playing Cobra (or perhaps King Cobra), an original member of the Snake Squad who fought against Captain America and Falcon in the 1973 issue #163 of Captain America. Later, in Captain America #310 from 1985, Sidewinder regrouped the snake-themed supervillains as the Serpent Society.
As a passionate cinephile, let me clarify: You won’t find me on the silver screen. To set the record straight, I’m emphatically not making an appearance in this flick. I don’t want any fans showing up expecting to see Seth Rollins, as there are possibly two die-hard enthusiasts out there who might have that idea. But to avoid wasting their precious time and to ensure I don’t mislead or confuse anyone, let me make it crystal clear: I am not in this movie.
By May 2024, it was reported that Rollins’ character was removed from the film. The production for “Brave New World,” previously known as “New World Order,” resumed in Atlanta for a 22-day shoot, with Giancarlo Esposito joining the cast. Known for his roles in “Breaking Bad” and “The Boys,” Esposito took on a villain role in the series. Later, Esposito confirmed his character as Seth Voelker, also known as Sidewinder, from the Serpent Society, although he won’t be sporting the snake-related accessories of his comic book counterpart in the final cut.
Rollins expressed, “It should be fantastic. Marvel certainly delivers well,” he stated. To put it simply, if I’m not involved in anything else, I honestly don’t care. I’m not passionate about acting. I adore wrestling. My wife, Becky Lynch, is passionate about acting. She’s far more skilled at it than I am. She has some incredible projects on the horizon… she recently announced her role in Star Trek [Starfleet Academy], which promises to be extraordinary.
In 2016, Rollins first appeared on the big screen with “Sharknado: The 4th Awakens,” and then starred alongside Wesley Snipes in “Armed Response” in 2017. A scene featuring Rollins was also cut from the 2020 comedy “Like a Boss,” starring Tiffany Haddish and Rose Byrne.
In the movie “Captain America: Brave New World,” Sam Wilson, portrayed by Mackie, encounters a worldwide crisis. He has to uncover the secret behind a sinister global conspiracy before the main culprit turns the entire planet into chaos. Mackie and Ford are among the star-studded cast, alongside Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, with Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, and Tim Blake Nelson reprising their roles from “The Incredible Hulk” of 2008 as Samuel Sterns/the Leader. The film is set to premiere on Valentine’s Day.
